Maybe if there was a guy like you around back when I did a lot of killing I would have availed myself of your skills and then the house wouldn't look like it was decorated by Bella Legossi and Vincent Price with the skulls and such which the bride has given much to the grand kids.

She even raffled off to the kids the full standing bear mount looks like he's asking you to dance, is smiling and his eyes are cocked.

The Sandhill cranes I have seen are huge! Rosco and I were in Idaho and stopped by a Nature Conservancy to go for a walk. Rosco was stalking through the reeds and suddenly spooked and came running! Up stood a crane above the reeds...huge! Rosco and I were both shocked!
We see them occasionally catching a thermal here on their way south in the fall, then back north in the spring.
When pheasant hunting at my friends place in KS, we will be sitting around a fire pit in the evenings and listen to them flying over. Strange sound!

They are a big bird but are very dangerous to dogs

He is pretty sharp. I like that ole hound and am looking forward to getting to see him again.

Very nice! Great work Erik. I imagine not many people have a Sandhill Crane mount. I’ve always wanted to hunt them but never have. We used to have them come into the goose dekes back in the good old days when I hunted in Alberta. They would sometimes drop in from nose bleed altitude, so high you couldn’t see them, just hear them and finally they would come dropping in. Very cool birds!

It’s pretty good but often exaggerated. They call them the ribeye of the sky. I find that is a bit of a stretch but I do enjoy eating them.
