Well one good thing about the cold it’s got out rut going where you can tell it’s happening.

Saw 6 deer this afternoon.
One button buck was nice. Antlers less than 2in but they were bigger around than my thumb.
A year and 1/2 came out behind a doe. 3 pt on one side and strange 2 pr on the other about 6ish in long but it forked like a fork.
Very good mass to the antlers.

They both were very dark for our deer.
I think it goes back to when we brought in deer from other states.
And what I remember as. A kid the dark deer had bigger antlers with a lot of mass.

At least for our deer in fl.

Our season is closed, and our Rut was in Oct. Didn't see a single buck chasing any doe. :(

Our rifle season goes to feb 22 then we have a late season muzzle loader.
Our rut is hit and miss and normally starts the end of dec into Jan.
It will stop and start with our little cold.
But rut really don’t matter here you will see spotted fawn year round.
Last weekend my nephew was going to shoot a big doe.
I stoped him because I saw a spotted fawn on the other side of the food plot.
It was a good thing it was her fawn.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
