Ruger No.1

I went back and found the reference that I was thinking of and it said that most were sent to Canada and Australia, not to Europe. Make sense as the 303 seems quite popular in both.
Yep, just like the '06 in your back yard although the young bucks coming on have left these old warriors behind for the new kids on the block. They deserve better after the service they have given to us and our fathers before us.

I found a lovely little 243 with stunning walnut. Being a lefty I have no rifles on which to teach my lady to shoot and also for my brother to use when we hunt together.

Will get them each their own scope in QD rings.

Is that a 22" or 24" barrel?

If it isn't 22" I will eat my John Deere tractor without any dipping sauce.

psssst....Toby....there is a 416 Taylor for sale in the classifieds....

At least one of the .303s even made it to Germany..... :sneaky:

I’ll pay to see that!

I wish they made these calibers in with 24” or 25” barrels. I have a No1 in 9.3x62 with a 22” bbl. IMO it would be a much more balanced rifle with a 25” bbl.

My thoughts exactly! I looked at a 338 Win Mag with a 26" barrel and iron sights once. It maintained the thin profile barrel of the 1A, but with the extra 4" it balanced much better.

I think that is a matter of talking to Lipsey's...get a group of folks together and get them to order them. They seem to control the #1 production now.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
