Ruger Mk77 RSM 416 Rigby

Well...I am not one to ever find good deals, but this purchase was definitely one of the better deals I've found. This gun is in immaculate condition. Was told its never been shot and believe it. Guy's grandad bought it years ago to go hunt in Africa and never made it over there. Its sat in a safe since being bought and his passing. Family finally decided to part ways with it.

Now I gotta figure out what scope I want to put on it. I have plenty of time though, wont be going back to Africa until 2029....well thats the plan currently!!!

Yea I got back this past Sunday! It wasn't planned, just couldnt pass up the deal. The 375 did fine this trip, but always wanted a rigby.

Leupold vx-6 1-6 or 2-12, Trijicon Credo hx 1-8 or 1-10, leica amplus 6 1-6, NF NX8 1-8, GPO 1.5-9x44, I am sure theres some im missing I havent thought off.

Really wanting something a little better in low light that is what im considering the 2x scopes as they have bigger objective lens.

I have a Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 on my .375 H&H and just got back from a trip. Can't say enough good things about that scope.

Accupoints are nice scopes. Ive ran Trijicon for years on my regular rifles. Huge fan.

Great find! Very nice rifle. I think it needs to go over and get a buffalo.
Its twin is on Gunbroker right now. I would sure love to have it to go with my RSM in 375H&H but I would have to sleep in my truck with the guns if I bought it right after buying my Ruger Hawkeye African 275 Rigby and going to Zambia in the same month.

If you go with Leupold which is one of my favorites, I would go with the VX5-HD. I have a couple of VX6-HD's and I've held them next to the 5's in bright and low light conditions and I promise you I can't see the difference other than the price. Either way I would get the Firedot Reticle or an illuminated reticle in any brand you decide on. They work wonderfully on darker animals such as buffalo and sable and in low light in heavy brush.

The Leupold VX Patrol is amazing, if you haven't tried it out. The VX 3 low power ( 2.5x 5?) is probably the the best deal going IMO though. Mine is bright as day. Although, If you could find a Nikon Monarch, that would be perfect.

Yes sir! I have looked through both and I agree with you. I guess my biggest thing is deciding not only if which acope but which power range. I know the 1x are the go to for Africa it seems, but they dont let in near as much light as something with a 40-42mm objective.

My current scope on the 375 is 1-6x24. When I shot my buff this year it was right at dark and I would have loved to have had something a little better in low light.

I looked at the Patrol online yesterday. They are a 1-6 as well. Just not sure currently if I want the 1-6 or the 2-10 range.
