How to Make Grilled Eggs

Take advantage of the glowing coals on your summer BBQ and instead of hard boiling your eggs for salads, simply put them straight on the grill and cook them in their shells, saving you time and adding that all important extra flavour.
Here's how:

1. Place raw eggs in their shell on the grate over a gentle fire.

2. Give them 3 to 4 minutes per side on the grate, turning carefully with tongs. They should be done in 6 to 14 minutes - depending on how you like your yolks.

3. Like hard-boiled eggs, grilled eggs will continue to cook once removed from the heat, so place them in an ice bath for a few minutes to stop the cooking and prevent a grey ring around the yolk.

Cast iron pots, comes in about 10 different sizes ,pot bellied and 3 short legs [forerunner of the flat bottomed dutch oven here] , the most widely used and common open fire cooking pot in Africa, it's the cooking utensil that has fed 90% of all rural Africans of all nationalities to this day, works wonderful on direct campfire flames or just coals , used for all different meals, the one pot wonder that does it all down in this part of the world !

These potbellied three legged outdoor cast iron cooking pots are a traditional African design I think. Here is my smaller pot that comfortably feeds 4-6 grown-ups, and it works just as well on my portable custom rocket stove using the minimum of wood etc, than out there on a campfire.

For those who use Norma ammunition and maybe carry a few spare rounds perhaps in their pocket or pack, the 'plastic' holder isn't plastic, it's actually mainly wood pulp and can be used as a fire starter if needed. Norma actually advertise this but might not be known widely.
Ideal for getting a fire going if there is no dry tinder.

Just try and keep the flames below the water level in the bottle...

Thanks ROB ! :):)

Here is another one
Get a brown paper bag and fill about half to three quarters water place directly in coals.
The water soaks the bag causing it to not burn, we’ve boiled hotdogs and even hard boil eggs. Can’t find a video on YouTube about it, but paper cup is the closest thing.

Regards
Willem

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
