I first heard Margaritaville when I was in high school. It grabbed my attention and ever afterwards I was a Parrot Head. Twenty two concerts and more Tequila consumed than I would like to admit. Jimmy has been a fixture in my life. Sail on sailor!

I was on a yacht in the Bahamas when I first heard his songs

Is he a buffet of the multi millionaire family?

Hemingway and Buffet ignited my love of Key West - always chase a few fish in honor of the one and do the Duval Crawl in honor of the other.

I learned of his passing this morning while setting up to hunt a dove field in Seymour, Texas. That’ll be one of those “where were you” moments we talk about in my small circle of friends.

“Sister Spare Change has a bumper sticker on the door—Jimmy Buffet, he don’t live in Key West anymore.”

RIP Mr. Buffet

I didn't know until I read this! Wow. I always thought of him as someone who really found his niche and focused on it. Do what you love and it's not really work.

God’s own Drunk - one of my favorite Buffet tunes of all time… I think I’ll go listen to it now in remembrance, and have a couple of margaritas tonight after dinner

Little known fact about Buffet…he and his original band mate Greg Taylor met as fraternity brothers (Kappa Sigma) at Southern Miss..

This was after he attended Auburn as a freshman, pledged a different fraternity, but dropped out and transferred to Southern Miss..

Had that drop and transfer not happened, the Coral Reefer Band would likely have sounded a bit different…

He was a great entertainer and touched a lot of people. I have always enjoyed his songs and concerts. RIP.

And at 76, I'd say too young though he lived a life to fill multiple lifetimes.

When I was in college, I saw JB in concert. Great showman! RIP

I am not much of a fisherman, but I think the Duval crawl does a good job of honoring both..

We used to have "Buffet Partys" with Cheeseburgers, Margaritas, Tequila, Pirates...etc. Jimmy will be missed

He did a concert at Auburn when I was there and joked of his .25 GPA or something like that when he attended there. He put on a great show and he will be missed. His sister has a restaurant in Gulf Shores and he would visit the coast often. Last time I saw him was a concert on the beach during the Deepwater horizon oil spill. RIP

so much the soundtrack to my life. The deeper / older you get in his albums the better he gets. Glad I saw him as often as I did and glad my daughter “got” him at such an early age. We will go on road trips and listen to him and not have to say a thing. Good stuff.

Our lease is in Seymour. :)

Safe hunting

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
