Recently purchased a 404J Rigby. Picked up a set of Talley QD mounts. Went to install them today and realized that the rear square bridge has to be drilled and tapped.

No one anywhere around me that I would trust to do something like that.

Any other suggestions as to scope mounting or do I just bite the proverbial bullett and find someone to ship the rifle to?

Thanks!

Wow, I am guessing that was $15-20,000 worth of steel and wood.

Kind of retarded that a gun that cost that much coin doesn't have a scope mount option.

Kind of like an F-150 not coming with axles.

I thought the single square bridge was often the PH type model and I intended for use with irons sights. I’m sure Rigby will comment as soon as it’s business hours in GMT about options in your scenario.

Or being upset you can’t tow a gooseneck with a Ford Maverick, or that a F350 dual axle is hard to park. I think the modern Rigby is quite astute in their products.

This is s a double square bridge.

A photo would help. Does it look like the upper left on below?

Looks like I am going to have to find someone to drill the holes in the action for the Talley bases.

I have tried to get in touch with NECG for the last couple of days to explore other options, with no luck.

Any advice on someone to use? Scares the heck out of me to turn this rifle over to someone with a drill press! :)

So it’s not a Rechnagel scope mount? My new Rigby BGR PH version uses these type mounts

From what I have read here on the forum, the comments were always "don't try to mount this yourself as it will end up needing different parts, etc"

Then you bought the same gun I just bought. Easy. Google Rechnagel 30 mm rings and you should be good to go. they also come in 1 inch and mine are 34 mm. Just know you cannot use your hand to twist on the front. I used a big dowel to twist on. You do not want to do anything else with that gun

Mine did not cost $899 mine cost $481

Holy shit. $1000 for a mount!!

For a $20,000 rifle.... you can find deals like @Rare Breed or order them through Europe a bit cheaper but if you want it now, you'll pay full retail.
Holland and Holland mount is $5,000 plus.
When you step into the big boy pool it costs money.

that was not my experience - the mounts I mentioned above were a straightforward DIY install on my Rigby BG

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.
