Mate, that has come up very nice. Great rifle in a great cartridge (y)

If there was ever a rifle that shoots as good as it looks, it's this Rigby.

Norma brass
Federal primers
82 grains of 2209
450 grain Woodleigh RNSN projectiles
4 shot group at 40 yards with the iron sights

Aussie, happy to see that thing punching single holes…as it should even with your way-too-high scope. Of course, mine sits exactly the same and think it fits proper. While I admittedly have a bigger head than some, ok, most, I hate a rifle that has improper scope height for solid cheek weld, especially on a heavy recoiling cartridge. The Rigby BGRs with a swaro in the recknagel rings fit me perfectly.

While my 416 shoots similar, sure wish the wood as nice. That rifle is simply a gorgeous killer.

My less appealing wood, same scope height and 100yd grouping which is average for it if I do my part.

Unbelievable how accurate these Rigby rifles are, especially considering they are big calibres and realistically they are a very simple and basic build. At the end of the day they are just a big relatively clunky, barrelled magnum Mauser action sitting in a wood stock but man do they shoot. And to touch on the scope mounting again, maybe high for some but I'm the same as you, it works just fine for me and not uncomfortable at all.

What ammo did you use to shoot that group and at what distance?

Way too high unless you have a 7 inch cheek
His group proves otherwise. His fundamentals must be on point to shoot a group like that with a big bore. Everyone is built different, the belief that a scope must be mounted as low as possible is antiquated.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
