Replacing this Old Hat

I'm a ball cap fan. Don't like brimmed hats in the wind or brush. And I prefer to hunt in the wind or brush. I do wear a brimmed hat "off duty" for style but it does not go to work.

Formerly I had to wear a brimmed hat to work. Enjoyed the job but the hat was a pain in the butt. I would switch to ball cap whenever protocol allowed.

My question is how did you manage to wear that cap through so many adventures and it still looks like new? Here's my ball cap after two hunting seasons.

Tilley hats are for old guys on the golf course who like the stereotype. Same with the felt safari hats. I'm sure they work but I HATE stereotypes. I am me, not Stuart Granger. Ball caps have held up in my kind of hunting ... hard hunting ... for sixty years. They work for every situation.

These are exceptionally well made and durable. A brimmed hat is excellent for rain and sun protection

I like your short brimmed hat (& hate those Ron Spomer looking hats)! for tropical weather a boonie, or baseball cap, short brimmed straw hat , both keeps the sun off the head and gives you a low profile.
I use a palm hat that can be soaked in water and act as radiator in the heat and it turns water proof in the rain .
IMO to big a bream gives off to much of a profile when hunting.

I have been wrestling over hats for a while. I own some nice Resistol hats. Have a ton of Kuiu. Etc. but wanted a ball cap for ease of travel

However I couldn’t find a hat I liked. Kuiu hats are small and feel tight to me. Couldn’t find a trucker hat with a logo I liked. I didn’t want to rep someone else’s logo

So I actually made my own logo from a picture (not me). And ordered 10 different ball caps with this logo today. They should look something like this, but a couple different colors and styles. I wanted something that us insiders would recognize that maybe the general public wouldn’t

I should add. A local company will order the hats and embroider them. With the digitalization fee and the hats etc. it should cost about $250 for 10 hats

I agree. It is almost impossible to find a ball cap these days that isn't made to fit a dinky Chinaman's head! I'm a size 7.5 and rarely encounter caps that will stay put. Too shallow!

That´s what I wear, Spanish Army digital camo desert, I have another in green.

However, if style is what you need, nothing beats a pith helmet.

We need to bring back pith helmets
I wish I had one ... for Halloween. Didn't one of the characters from the Clue board game wear a pith helmet? Major Bonkers maybe? How about a red fez and handlebar mustache? Egad! Gadzooks! :D

Hey Will, can't say I am a fan of the Stetson. Has a bit of a Bufford T Justice vibe to it. But if you need someone to tag along and hold it down on your melon in the bakkie, just let me know.......View attachment 756823
Dang it...your right! But...now I kinda like his hat too. Always did like a silverbelly though. I guess it is more of a grampa-meets keg stand kind of hat.

You bet! I'll be looking for the Hunting Pimp for sure! 14 days!

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
