Renting a rifle for your African safari

Let's not hijack the thread any more. If you want to talk double rifle idiosyncrasies I would love to. Make another thread and I'll give you ten reasons why they are awesome for dangerous game hunting and another 10 reasons why my double rifle won't work as a rental.

Please be respectful of one another and let's try to help Karl from @Ndumo Hunting Safaris by giving feedback on his questions. Thanks everyone!

From experience I have seen a double in the wrong hands is dangerous, I gave prices in previous post.

I think you have a perfect arsenal to offer to your clients Karl, this days it can be a headache to travel with firearms so to offer them a fine and well shooting rifle is always a nice solution.

Good idea Carl. You have my number , give me a call.

Good hunting

It boils down to shooting experience. If a fella puts the trigger time in then he/she will be successful wether it's with your own rifle or not. I've hunted with my rifles and with borrowed rifles. My success or failure has always been a direct result of my ability. Very few people in the world can out shoot the potential accuracy of a given rifle wether they want to believe it or not. I consider myself a decent shooter and I certainly can't outshoot my rifles. The big thing that bothers me most when this or any other related convo comes up is that a certain percentage of people think you can buy accuracy. This absolutely is false. One can spend $100,000 + on custom super rifles and that won't make you a better shot. Some of the absolute best shooters I've had the oppurtunity to shoot with hunted with garden variety off the shelf rifles. They shot them a lot and were damn good with them. Trigger time will always prevail in the end. Throwing money at expensive rifles and shooting gizmos will get you no where if you don't put rounds down range such as the example given above. Period

@Ndumo Hunting Safaris i guess what I'm saying is that the current battery your offering will be more than sufficient and any client should be very happy to shoot one of your guns. If they miss it's because they missed. It's easy for people to blame it on the rifle or a slew of other things. That's when you take it back to the range and shoot a nice clover leaf on paper. That typically quells any bitching after that.

I borrowed my PHs rifle to hunt a property that required a silencer, my rifle and the PHs were quite different Mine a CZ his a M70, alto the safetys were different I adapted pretty EZ I altho noticed his scope(Meopta) to be equal if not better that my Nikon and his Trigger which was a Timney broke cleaner that my rifle, did I miss a few shots Yes But it was shooter error and didi i make a few one shot kills absolutely. Altho I really prefer to bring my own Rifles I would not Hesitate to shoot any of Nudumo's Safaris rifle battery. He did fall in love with my Little CZ Mannlicher stocked 308 which will be his when I to old to make the trip to SA anymore
