Regular springbuck count for Kalahari slam

Hello I have a question that I think I know the answer to but want to get opinions. I’m set to leave for my first Africa hunt in a couple days and me and my family are debating. I’m 22 and this hunt has all come out of my pocket so I don’t have to much money left over but I’m hunting a lioness a gemsbuck and a common springbuck. I understand the common does not count in the slam but would be allowed to let it slide or do I have spend some more money to get the Kalahari springbuck. Thank you

A common springbok does count toward the slam. Common, white, copper and black. The Kalahari springbok is in Namibia. Have a great hunt! Where are you going? Who are you hunting with?

You are 22 and falling for the let's make up some stupid criteria in hunting that serves zero purpose game.

Go hunt, have a good time. Don't worry about the measurement of your penis compared to everyone else.

My uncle has killed 6 North American sheep. 2 Dalls, a Fannin, 3 Bighorns. Killed almost all of it in the 1970's. He laments that he doesn't have a stone or a desert like is considering doing something really stupid to pay the $180,000. When he doesn't have the cash to do it now that he is on a fixed income.

Multiple people who have never killed a wild sheep have told him that his Fannin doesn't count, and having never killed a desert or Stone.

What difference does it make, go hunting count memories not anything else.

Slam or no slam, dont worry.

I am not sure, if color variants at all count as any official slam by SCI or some other organisation.
In my opinion, this is commercial name for color variants.
Yes, they look fantastic in trophy room. Thats all.
If you are now in twenties, you will have time to collect this.

Top slam for me is spiral horn slam.
But true spiral horn slam, very few people ever collected.
There is also a commercial "spiral slam", of 4 species offered in south africa, but this is not true spiral slam of 9 species. I am just giving this as an example and difference of commercial name and true slam.
So, dont worry, go hunting, take what africa gives you as opprtunity.
First safari stays in memory for ever. So, dont bother with colors, slams, inches and pounds of trophy. Just enjoy.

A slam wasn’t even on my radar with my first safari, soaking up the African experience was paramount. If that’s what you want, do it. To each its own…who cares about others opinions, it’s your Safari and do it your way. Opportunities don’t always come back around. Money became the last thing on my mind during the safari, maximizing the opportunity became the priority. I licked my wounds upon my return & financially recovered eventually. No regrets & no lost opportunities. Enjoy your Safari.

I don’t know the exact criteria for the “springbok slam” but I always thought it was color variants not subspecies. I’ve taken springbok in Karoo in eastern cape, central Namibia, and NW Namibia you’d have a difficult time telling me there is a significant difference. The springbok from NW Namibia have slightly longer ears that’s it. The best genetics have been moved throughout South Africa anyway and most will have some Kalahari genetics anyway.
