Recommendation for a good performing 9.3X62?

Hi robullelk,

Wow! Yours is the second ZKK 600 9,3X62 I have seen. Mine was made in 1967.

Myyyyyyyyy goodness.... what a lovely rifle....

Thank you very much @baxterb.

The rifle has been a trusty companion for almost 18 years now. Never let me down as a hunting rifle on my own or on the occasional backup on giraffe an larger PG.

Hi Soumya,

To me, the first candidate would be a CZ 550. There are still some around. Their barrels are second to none and the action-magazine lenghts are significantly longer than the M98s in 9,3x62. For a handloader, a see this as an advantage, more so because the very long distance to the lands in the standard CIP 9,3 barrels. In my ZKK 600, esentialy the same action and magazine, I can load my cartridges at 87/88 mm OAL depending the bullet. This increase the case volume for some more 50 or even 100 f/s with some powders with entirely safe presures, aproaching the 9,3x64 performance, being all other factors the same.

I have uploaded before some pictures showing all this. Here they are, again.

Good luck!

CF

hello what are the top two bullets in the picture? I know the bottom is a TTSX but do not recognize the others?

Hi baxterb,

The top one is a 220 grs FOX monometalic. Made in Slovenia. GREAT bullets!
The middle one is a 250 grs HORNADY GMX.

Robullelk,

Those scarce Husqvarna 246 are, to me, one of the niciest M98 9,3x62 hunting rifles!
By the way, how many rounds can be loaded in their magazine?
Thank you!

The first two that come to mind are the CZ 550 and the Ruger African.

You can go also find, Blazer R8, Husqvarna, SauerM100, mauser M18 and 12, Sako, etc just depends on your budget.

I built mine off a Parker Hale and FN actions.

My budget is 5 to 8K and prefer a new gun..

@soumya sarkar with your budget you won't have a problem getting a nice x62.
Yes I'm strongly considering a Sauer S404 combo package with a 243 barrel and a Z5 BT scope totalling to $6400 before taxes. Had my mind set on it but in a dilemma as I have not been able to find much feedback/reviews on it..

Why not look at a Blaser R8 with a 9.3x62 and the 243WIN barrels? Should still be in your price range.

You know, if you switched out the 243WIN for a 25-06 and added the 30-06 as well...you would be pretty much set for everything. BTW - Cove Creek Outfitters are some great guys and it looked like they had everything in stock.

The only reason I say switch out the 243WIN is because I know @Bob Nelson 35Whelen is gonna find this thread. :ROFLMAO:

@BeeMaa
Your a shit stirrer mate. I didn't think you would ever recommend a 243 to anyone.
The 25-06 is a brilliant and unfortunately over looked round.
Bob
