Shout out to Wheels for giving me a call yesterday to discuss elephant hunting and the endless possibilities..
It is good to hear someone talk about their experience live if only over the phone!

Very kind of you Charlie.

I really enjoyed our visit.

Looking forward to your successful hunting report.

All the best

Just a quick update here folks. Booked the Delta flight 200 ticket this week so the hunt dates are confirmed with Pieter at Paw Print Safaris. I have now watched Buzz Charltons video on hunting elephant 3 times and expect to see it at least 4 times a month between now and my August 26th departure date! Also ordered the back up rifle just for yucks .....Ruger Model #1 in 458 Lott. I expect it to arrive at the gun sop any day now.
My primary rifle on this hunt will be Ruger Guide Gun in 416 Ruger. Hoping to get out to the range in a couple of weeks to practice with both.
I'm obviously chomping at the bit to do this hunt and I hope to provide an interesting report modeled after Action Bob's and Wheels.

Can not wait till you get to live this dream ele hunt. Looking forward to the report and seeing what you thought of the whole trip. You need me for anything just drop me a PM here or call me on my cell.

Would like to mention yet another member of AH who has happily given of his time to educate me on hunting Elephant. Thank you Edward for spending last evening explaining so many things from your view.

This site offers every member a place to reach out to others for answers and we should all avail our selfs of that benefit. The street runs both ways as they say and I am more than willing to help others with questions or concerns. Remember none of us are truly experts on everything so help from others is a responsibility to the community of hunters visiting this site.

Can't wait for that report! I wish you the best of fortune, Charlie. (y)
I'm on the Delta 200 flight 1 day ahead of you (Aug 25) :D

IdaRam what are you hunting again and where!

@CAustin , doing kind of a three-in-one. Will be hunting Limpopo and Northwest provinces starting with two weeks of mixed plains game and night animals. Then my hunting partner's son will be showing up from Europe to join us for another 10 days. Jim and I will each be hunting Lioness primarily and Jim's son will be hunting for Gemsbok, Red Hartebeest, Warthog and Impala.
So, here's what my wish list looks like:
Priority - Lioness, Serval, Caracal, Gemsbok, Impala, Warthog, Blue Wildebeest, Springbok and Baboon, plus a cull animal of each Springbok & BWB for flat skins.
Discretionary (can only afford one or two) - Kudu or Waterbuck, Black Wildebeest, Honey Badger, Civit, Genet, Porcupine, Bush Pig.
Will see how it shakes out. Lioness is the real priority, everything else will just be what it will be. Although serval is the next priority on my list and my PH, Jean-Louis with Numzaan, has some "special plans" ;) He seems pretty high on our possibilities for Caracal and Serval :D

IdaRam,
Sounds like you're on the countdown for a terrific hunt. My best wishes to you for much fun and success.

CAustin,
My very best to you as well. Look that bull in the eye and then drop him like a bad habit.

CAustin, wishing you all the best on your hunt of a lifetime! I'll be on Delta 200 on 09/02/15 and can't wait for my first safari to begin. I too am looking forward to your report and of course, PHOTOS.:)

@Big5 thank you sir! Much appreciated.

CAustin,
My very best to you as well. Look that bull in the eye and then drop him like a bad habit.
Some solid advice! The only thing I have to add; please make sure the video camera is rolling! (y) :D

IdaRam and Big5 I bought a GoPro hero 3+ to take video and pictures on this trip. I'm very hopeful that my son can come along to be backup rifle and video man. Failing that I have an attachment that will allow me to put the camera on the scope or rifle barrel to capture the action. I plan on looking the big boy right in the eye for a side brain shot if I can get it.

Right and I personally think the money is well spent. I hired them for my trip this summer because I didn't want any problems when it came time to get my lion home. They are super nice folks and definitely know their business.
I agree with you Gizmo, I hired them for my leopard hunt also. So far they have been on top of everything. I have used fauna and Flora in the past but and with no complaints but these folks seem very proactive. I am impressed.

First let me thank Gizmo and Royal 27 .
This is our baby and will move heaven and earth to make our clients not only remember the hunt but
who put the cherry on top.

Hi CAustin,
If you're in Vegas please stop by our booth (#458)... we deal with a lot of reputable outfitters
in South Africa and Namibia. If you find a outfitter on your own, we will speak to him on your behalf.
Good luck!!!!
Thank you for allowing Rosella and I to be part of the AH family.
Never though about asking you folks about outfitters...Makes sense as you deal with a lot of folks.

CA..Best of luck! I envy you. As you told me after this successful hunt it's only the rhino you would need. Great. Tell you what if I hit the lottery I ll take you on one!;)

WOW Johnny I like that lottery idea! Win please!

I wanted to give a big shout out to Wheels. Bob and I met for lunch in Edmond Oklahoma on Friday of this past week. It was sort of let's talk about hunting for a bit.......and three hours later we were still talking. Wheels shared very valuable hunt information and lots of ideas that I need to consider. I very much appreciate that he was willing to meet and talk about the up coming Elephant hunt and to kindly point out things that I had not considered. Thanks Wheels for being a great AH member and Big Game hunter extraordinaire!

CA, Enjoyed our lunch. Time flies when we talk about hunting. I had a great time.

In a court room you can get charged with perjury for saying I am a "Big Game hunter extraordinaire" though.

You will have a great trip. Hope you slay a dragon! Certainly want to hear all about it when you get back. If you have any other questions or want to visit, just give me a call.

All the best.
