Range finding binos

I have vortex, my buddy has Swaro.

Glass matters. Let your checking account determine how much.

As for rangefinding, neither is superior over the other.

Swarovski for hunting. Leica if the ballistics matter. I wound up choosing the Swarovski NL and still use a leica rangefinder.

Swaro glass is maybe a touch better to my eye but I like the ergonomics of the Leica much better and went with them.

I like Geovid Pro, pretty compact and reliable.

It is also pretty compact to carry as you can see.

I have owned Vortex, and Swarovski's both of which I sold for Leica 10x42 Geovid Pro. The Leica range finding capabilities is unmatched in my opinion. Super fast, very precise, excellent ergonomics. Top tier optical quality. I had older EL Range Swaro's which I sold after looking at the Geovids. Leica set many bench marks in range finding over the years.

One of my primary PH's uses Leica and they seem pretty hard to beat. Super clear and quick accurate range finding. He actually traded a Zebra for them. He got the better part of that deal

Exactly how I would rank them.

The Swaro is slightly better glass in low light, but cost significantly more.

Tina and I both went with the Leica Geovid and they have given superb service on our hunts. From Pronghorn in Wyoming to Klipspringer in South Africa they have been one of the best investments I've made in good quality glass.

I have a pair of Swarovski binos only. I have a pair of Leica bins with the rangefinder. The Leica glass is great and my eyes can't see a difference in the two. I got the Leica's for a great price from someone here on AH, so good I couldn't pass on them.

However I wish they were Swaros for some petty details. Both the front and rear lens covers are a better design, the fronts in particular. The covers on the Leica are basically useless and won't stay on the binos, neither covering the lenses nor when they're hanging below in the uncovered position.

The Swarovskis, you'd have to damage them to have them separate from the binos. Compare the two closely and you'll see what I mean. This seems petty, I don't disagree. But with the Leicas when you are in the field, you just as well take the front covers off and put them in the case and hunt with them off. If you don't, you're likely just going to lose them anyway.

Either direction you choose between the two, you'll be in the field with great glass and range finding technology.

Leica 10x40 rangefinder. I have used them in Africa, here elk and deer hunting, & prarie dog hunting. The glass is much better than I can see, and they are rugged.

I am certainly no expert even asking before about owning a pair with the overwhelming response of course I need a pair. For my leopard I bought a set of Leica range finding binoculars and they are awesome particularly in low light. The range finder works very well at a touch of a button.

I have had a pair of leica geovid for a couple of years now and have taken them to Africa 3 time, Alaska once and Utah once on hunts and they have worked great. I sue them all the time deer and pig hunting here at home as well.

I have a set of Bushnells that I used for deer,elk, moose and African planes game. At no time while using them have said to myself gee I wish bought more expensive brand.
