Pre-64 Winchester M70 - 9.3x64?

Hello HWL,

Yes. I am talking about that. The velocity differences for this 4 cartridges, 7x57 vs 7x64 and 9,3x62 vs 9,3x64, in factory loads are clear, by a good margin, around 200 f/s for the common bullet weights. In hand loads with similar pressures and barrel lengths, the differences are notably smaller, also by a good margin, 100 f/s or less!
This is not theory but reality. Anticipated by theory, by the way!
Best!

I am guilty of the deviation of this thread original theme, fascinating one about the extremely rare, unknown until now, original Winchester 70 pre-64 9,3x64 Brenneke!
Would be very interesting to know more about this, and others, non-standard cartridges Win 70 pre-64 factory offerings!

Breath some life into this old thread with something interesting I found on Pre64.com.

Funny it doesn’t mention which 9M/M?

9x57 is correct.

9x57 is correct.
Agreed!…. However, notice the article mentions .300win as a catalogue caliber but not .300H&H?

.300win didn’t come out until 1963; I personally used to own a .300H&H Supergrade and the barrel stamping was “.300 Magnum”

The next time I’m in San Antonio; we are going to take the stock off the 9.3x64 rifle and see what the factory bore diameter stamping is on the barrel.

My 300 H&H is also marked 300 Magnum.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?

Hi Green Chile, I just recently bought a 470 NE barrel for my Thompson Center TCR 83-87 single shot. Im just looking for some 470 NE to shoot at the range just to try it out. I dont need anything special but I just wanted to see what you have left. I dont necessarily even need a full box.
Thanks
Bill
