If the Dems want to win they should be sprinting towards the middle. Their "progressive" wing is their biggest weakness.

This is 100% not going to happen, they are going to push further left. A centralist will get destroyed in the primaries,

Even in FL senate that candidate should have lost by 15 points, lost by 2 or 3. They arent looking at it as hey we lost it, it was we were way closer than expected, the message is working and we just need to get it out more.

Troy Jackson actively campaigned in Medicare for All, he beat a moderate incumbent republican of 30 years pretty easily. Susan Collins is not MAGA or any type of extremist.

The take away isnt that Harris lost in 2024 because she was a bad candidate, or racist or whatever excuse. It is that she was too moderate and didnt embrace radical change enough.

Shockingly, US senators do not even need a basic background check to receive classified briefings. let alone a paragraph

Interesting. I think Rubio would smoke an AOC or Newsom. If the Dems want to win they should be sprinting towards the middle. Their "progressive" wing is their biggest weakness.

And I have no clue what Trump or Bibi were doing with both that announcement and it's bizarre timing. It was too late to help (?) in the mid terms and it makes Bibi building a coalition much harder.

I hope you’re correct, I feel Rubio has insulated himself by being quiet and fairly effective as SoS.

No matter who the GOP pick I hope they stay as far away from Trump as they can.
My wish is Trump to keep his fat mouth and ego in check and just work for the American people. Unfortunately we all know he is incapable of keeping either of those thing in check.

I was a fan during his first term but have soured a bit during the second as have many in the country.

Although I’m confident there’s a couple agencies that will still do their own checking and investigations and leak any pertinent information to the appropriate members on intelligence committees. :sneaky:

As sad as it is, you're right. The last two years just fueled their socialist agenda. They've gone more quiet on the "woke" movement, though. However, with the COL and wealth-gap growing, it's like gasoline on a fire for socialism.

The real concern is this new DSA party is gaining a lot of traction. This midterm election was a message. I hope it was received. We, the GOP, really better get our act together or this country could go all the way down the drain in 2028.

Whoever we put up in 2028 better make themselves very distant from Trump.

You don't say!
At least he can acknowledge the failure
If he had waited until 2027, we would have had a much better chance to save the republic from the midterm lunatics.

I should’ve clarified, I was thinking about the republicans, I figured it would be Schumer.

Thune will run again. I'd rather Rand Paul. I'd also have rather had Rand Paul as majority leader. Thune screwed up bad with SAVE and some other senate-failed bills.

Rand Paul has the least likely hood of being leader of any senator. He doesn’t get along with his colleagues well enough.

And Thune never had the votes to pass Save if he had put it on the floor wouldn’t have gotten 50 votes.

Woke movement is over, but it didnt die it pivoted and set the foundation for the DSA platform. The tactics are essentially the same and actors are essentially the same but the message is focusing on the wealth gap, and discussing "fairness".

AI is going to fuel the wealth gap, as starter jobs are removed from economy and more people feel left behind.

I actually believe there is very little difference between Republicans and Democrats at this point, though the DSA is different (similiar to the freedom caucus) they want 100% their way, or lets get nothing done. The plus side is the democrats have such a majority this go around they wont have to compromise with that fraction of the party.

The next 2 years will be ridiculous gridlock, 2028 will set the stage though, those 2 years till 2030 could be painful.

Listening to the Democrat-Communists this am, Its all about free everything and subpoenas after subpoenas. "The Republicans better lawyer up because we're going to get them all"
At what point can't we set down and find a way to reduce our debt, educate our children without indoctrinating them, repairing the damage "Affordable Care Act" did to our healthcare system, strengthen our military (we have some horrible enemies in this world), care for our elderly, celebrate the successes the USA has had in the last 250 years, have manufacturing that makes things here (95% of drugs come from China!), not be at war with each other over religion, support the successes of those who have contributed to making our lives better, those who are suffering all of us should reach a hand out to help, put the government back in the hands of the people, government is not the solution to what is ailing us!
Neither party puts forward a plan to make our lives better. They just want to take our money to make government bigger and benefit themselves. The waste in our elections is only second to the waste in our government. The Texas Senate race is just one example of millions wasted to throughout a worthless slug and elect a person with a bunch of catch slogans and no hard plan of enacting them much less paying for them. Neither will make our lives better!
I'm done with the professional politicians who are destroying this country, time for term limits and if you hold a law degree you can't be in elected to office as a career.
I once had hope that Trump could help fix some of the things that are hurting the people of this Country, but a narcissist rarely contributes to good and our government is overrun with narcissists.

I think this is fairly accurate, my friend (staunch gun control guy but fairly open to discussion) was talking about gun deaths and how we need to do something. So I asked if more people are hurt or killed by guns or by cars, he said obviously cars but there are economic concerns, etc.

I said you are close, no one can fundraise off of car accidents.

It is why they cant even pass 80/20 issues because then they can't fundraise off of it.

Alcohol are far worse their either cars or guns, but you already tried Prohibition and it didn't work out.

However, more seriously, I think the size and power of the auto and alcohol industries impact how much you can regulate them. To my eye, it's not about the public fundraising, it's about very rich industries using very sophisticated lobbyists to protect their bottom line.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
