Oh, I meant to post the link to a very frank and insightful interview of Dr. Roman Yampolskiy, author of Considerations on the AI Endgame: Ethics, Risks and Computational Frameworks:

The AI Safety Expert: These Are The Only 5 Jobs That Will Remain In 2030!

AI has not yet reached super-intelligence, but it's not far off. Beware the "singularity".

"Imagining humans can control superintelligent AI is a little like imagining that an ant can control the outcome of an NFL football game being played around it."

Thanks for sharing @BTP-KennethWRoyce that was an hour and a half well spent.

Speaking of AI, this is how powerful it has become:

One guy decided to train AI to help him build a few computer programs. In a month’s time, he had reverse engineered the entirety of the Adobe Suite with 70% of the same features. He thinks it will hit 100% feature-for-feature milestones in <90 days. He is giving the software away for free.

Adobe makes Acrobat, the PDF reader and creator. They make Illustrator. They make Photoshop, the universal leader in image and video editing worldwide.

What happens when one guy in his basement with no coding skills can destroy the entire business model of a Fortune 500 company in a few weeks? That’s what AI is doing.

In this case I don’t have a problem with it. Adobe has been pursuing some very unpopular strategies over the last decade, including switching to a subscription model, instituting early termination fees, and (ironically) allowing their own AI to train itself on user’s art and projects through ToS updates. They’ve really done it to themselves.

We are seeing similar things with app development. I know a guy who got a demo of a product, was given screen shots and told about the functionality. Using his AI lab, he recreated it with 90% functionality in less than a week.

Building products as a differentiator right now seems like a fools errand.

My dad owned a printing company in the 1970s. The digital revolution, of which Adobe was a part, put him out of business. He moved on and did fine for himself. I don’t think anyone gave a thought to the impact of digital documents putting printers out of business.

Remember having to take your roll of Kodak film to a developer to get your pictures? First digital cameras then smart phones destroyed a multi-billion dollar empire. Now we can edit and print photos in our own homes. I for one am glad it happened. Companies and industries come and go. Creative destruction they call it.

Unfortunately as far as I can tell the photos you print yourself or in a booth at a shop don't last too well....fade after a few years or less....unlike the old lab developed ones

AI will be the great destroyer.

But hey, it's good for business and profits, and that's all that matters to some.

"Decoy Dan".....and the sleazy Dems Alaskan ballot stacking attempt.

Pretty amazing that it was the NYT that broke this story. Very slimy move on her part, should cost her the election.

What makes you think he had no experience with computers or coding though? Also am I wrong in thinking he’s just doing what people get upset (rightfully so) about China doing to our companies by reverse engineering and stealing ideas and creations. Bret Weinstein pointed out on the diary of a CEO podcast that intellectual theft will be insane the way it’s going now.

It is crazy the shit the left can think up to undermine democracy! This scheme has been tried before and has worked, so it should work again. In Canada they tryed the longest ballot scheme, got two hundred names put on a by-election ballot to try and prevent our leader of the opposition party, a seat. The only reason he wasn’t elected in his old riding is the government (Liberal) changed the riding boundaries to remove his base and incorporate the neighbouring Liberal stronghold into his riding.
The left doesn’t want fair elections they want to win at ANY cost.

but.. but.. but.... D's dont cheat.. thats just a story made up by the right... just ask a D.. they'll tell you.. lol..

And they get away with it, with no legal repercussions

Very interesting, thanks.

I'm fine with AI as a tool, but not as an autonomous agent.
We've seen many destructive technologies over the past 140 years, but nothing like SI.
It would be the last destructive technology.

btw, LibreOffice is a free alternative to M$Office, and cross-platform. It doesn't embed your docs with the serial # of your computer chip, etc.

Very slimy indeed, but she may be so slimy that it'll never be proven in time.
Also, the "other" Dan Sullivan is still on the ballot.
The pressure needs to be on him to crack, fess up, and withdraw. Then, we'd have a solid story.

Spot on. Sharing the mere idea of a new product may be enough to have it whisked away from you. Innovators must become extremely canny.

It probably won't. I have seen a few stories up here. Most seem to be giving it a shoulder shrug because they believe all politicians are inherently dishonest.

I get that we are tragically inured to slimy politicians doing slimy things, but I understand she is running on a "clean shit up" platform and this kind of chicanery must surely cost her at least a few points? I hope.

Noah,
I might be interested in the 470 Woodleigh Softs if the price is right for the entire lot. Are you planning on going to the Tulsa Gunshow in November? If so, perhaps we could meet up.
