You have to consider that MTG, Gaetz, and some others, we're not as bad when they first got elected to Congress.
Even those of us who are further right eventually got sick and tired of those loony tunes.
They went further out into the weeds as time went by, and it ultimately cost them their jobs.

There isn't supposed to be one. The benefit is for the terminally ill individual, or those that have significant chronic pain, not society. Considering societal benefits would send us down a slippery slope.

An example to consider

In the 1970s a 30 year old woman suffered a blood clot that killed off her intestines. She became my father’s patient. Her prognosis was death by starvation. In today’s world, she would have met with the designated MaID person and arranged for her death. Fortunately, it was illegal then and my father , along with the hospital pharmacist and a general surgeon developed what is now known as Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN). As they were developing it colleagues were leaving notes in the chart protesting that what they were trying to do was unethical and malpractice.

TPN is used world wide today to feed people who need longterm nutritional supplementation. There is a societal benefit to your disease and suffering. That woman’s name was Judy Taylor. She lived for many years and had a family. She never ate after her blood clot, but she and many like her have gone on to live full lives.

We could find the next Judy Taylor. Or we can just kill people off and not try to make their death more truly dignified, or find a cure. Even advances in palliative care are a societal benefit.

I don’t think Judy’s story is unusual. Many areas of medicine have been advanced because there was no alternative. The slippery slope was the norm a generation ago because doctors didn’t actively kill people then.

The suffering some diseases bring is horrific, and I honestly don’t wish that on anyone. But, I don’t think expediency opens doors for us like the motivation derived from compassion does.

Correction, I am voting between Talarico and Paxton, which is a pretty easy decision. Just as easy as it was to pick between Beto and Cruz.

If the Dems learn how to run a candidate that makes it a difficult choice, or swing the easy choice to their side, I'm not blindly loyal to GOP party.

Adding to this, someone recently posted they would not vote for Christ himself on the R ticket... which shows bias and stupidity of the highest order. I would absolutely vote for Him as a D Candidate should such a hypothetical become a reality.

But Talarico is nearly the opposite of Christ, so I guess my decision is made for '26.
