8-24-26 ?

What did I do wrong? Guy had brandish a pistol and was freaking out at a stop light because I was smoking a cigarette, I had my own weapon, but in the USA you have appear to a grand jury when you shoot someone ( 1st lesson they teach in CC class) the guy violated the dogs personal space and got bit, hella lot better for him vs having some 10mm holes and me spending money on a lawyer and a visit to the grand jury. Or getting shot my self.
You are European and probably don’t have a clue
He's a European, therefore he has to turn himself in if he farts within 500 feet of a Mosque.

For all of the complete bullshit BE spews, none of it crosses the line to break forum rules. Many can agree this site and specifically this thread, since that's the only place BE posts, would be better without the nonsense, but it's a free and open forum so I see no justification for being banned.

I'm guilty of engaging a few times, with the same result every time when I disprove the lies and I provide real facts. I believe having real discussions and considering other viewpoints is important (we should never assume our own beliefs and opinions are the only right view). However, when the other person in the discussion refuses to accept they too can be wrong, it's pointless to continue. So I hit the ignore button and am glad to have done it.

I encourage you all to do the same. Press ignore, the BS doesn't show up any more. If people stop seeing it and stop engaging, replies don't show up. Then BE either goes away, or posts for nobody to see.
To paraphrase an old quote, "sophisticated people discuss ideas, unsophisticated people discuss political parties". The thing I really liked over the majority of the last 4000 pages is that mature people bring up a lot of ideas that get weak coverage in our media. Some of those ideas are not supported by either political party, occasionally they are supported by "the wrong party" whichever one a person of good conscience thinks that is.

Lately however, it has become a depressing place where its just like reading the party platform points of the DSA. In their totality, the DSA's platform is tailor-made to destroy everything that made the West glorious. The best that has ever been is never enough for a group of people that want to destroy the structures that have created this incredible country and its underpinnings.

I'd like to see an end of the line-for-line talking points of a fringe political party. I have democrats as friends, I have republicans as friends, I have libertarians as friends, I have globalists as friends, I have nationalists as friends, I have jews/sikhs/hindus/protestants/catholics/athiests as friends. I just don't want to associate myself with a human that seeks to destroy the West. It's gross.

America: #1 best place on earth for upward mobility. #1 richest country to live if you're of African heritage. #1 best place for religious and assembly protections. #1 best place to own a firearm and protect your family. #1 wealthiest middle class on earth. Excluding London proper, every State in America is financially better-off than any place in the United Kingdom. This country is the best nation to have ever existed and the DSA talking points want to unravel all of these things in one way or another.

I actually think much of his content does break forum rules and am surprised @BRICKBURN and @AfricaHunting.com tolerate it. Let me offer some examples he recently used with @Scott CWO, one of more respected members, a man who actually runs a successful business, and, oh by the way is actually a hunter who posts hunting reports and comments knowledgeably on others.

You're so stupid I cant even argue with you. You're not even capable of reading what was written. And understanding a basic math exercise.

Everyone we are talking about in this example is working, usually more than full time. Again, you're too ignorant to even understand what we are talking about.

Why you defend and kiss billionaire a$$ is beyond me. Do they send you an a$$ kissing dividend check every month?

What are you even talking about, you sound like you're sundowning again grandpa.

Big talk from an ignorant old man without any reading comprehension skills. How does the rich mans boot polish taste?

I keep him on ignore. He isn't a hunter. He is here because he gets more of reaction among us than he does on redit or X or whatever other sites he and his ilk inhabit. And he is full of tells if you do read his posts. Syntax, word choice, idioms - He is not remotely interested in debating an issue, he is a millennial getting his jollies trying to antagonize those who engage him. One of his perfect tells.

I belong to a number of official and unofficial left-leaning gun organizations.

Yes, I am sure he does.

We had robuust discussion on this thread. Sure opinions were strongly held, but with the exception of a couple of other name callers, most of whom are gone, it was generally respectful. It should be. There are contributors here with vast experience in a host of different fields. One of them is Scott CWO.

Just when you thought Trump couldn't get any crazier.
The Daily Trump Derangement Syndrome Report? Dude, it's 4pm, your about 8 hours late.

Tell ya what, come back tomorrow bright and early just after you get a fresh batch of Leftist brainwashing and a hot cup of coffee and you're all wound up and try it again.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program with Little Richard singing his hit song "I hear ya knockin but ya can't come in".

My opinon doesnt count but I think thats really a very bad idea.

In the Marines we have Strategic Cororals, so dubbed by the then USMC Commandant General Krulak,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Block_War From this reference,
"The strategic corporal is the notion that leadership in complex, rapidly evolving mission environments devolves lower and lower down the chain of command to better exploit time-critical information into the decision making process, ultimately landing on the corporal, the lowest ranking non-commissioned officer, typically commanding a fire team of 4 individuals or a squad of 12 individuals (three fireteams). In very rapidly evolving mission situations, obtaining mission instructions from remotely located command may result in mission failure, or in casualties to both force personnel and civilians.
Was this a result of USAF Col. John Boyd's OODA loop consulting with the Corp? It sounds like it. The Marines were so effective in Grenada they shamed the Army.

while the USMC did Gods work in Grenada, its a bit of a stretch to believe they “shamed” the 1st Ranger Battalion, 2nd Ranger Battalion, 7th Special Forces, Delta Force, or the160th SOAR… all among the premier special operations forces in the US at that time and certainly among the best in the planet… all of whom fought there… much less the 82nd Airborne Division, which at the time was probably the finest conventional light infantry unit in the world..

The communications, logistics, and intelligence failures were DoD wide and effected all ground forces.. some worse than others depending on each units mission set, insertion method, and targets..

The navy SEAL units (including ST6) probably suffered the most from poor intelligence and communications challenges… but I wouldn’t say the Army or USMC shamed them in any way… they fought valiantly..

The problems experienced in Grenada are what led to the Goldwater Nichols Act in 1986 which overhauled the entire DoD command structure to fix the intel, logistics, and comms challenges Grenada exposed…

I never denigrate a marine. But the 75th Ranger Regt (1st and 2d Battalions) distinguished itself by successfully executing a low altitude combat jump (from 500 ft!!) onto island's airfield while under MG and 23mm ADA fire. The decision to drop both battalions was made in route. They jumped without reserve shoots because there was no time for them to open if needed. It is probably the most remarkable combat jump since WWII.

Good description of the battle. The jump shots in this video are training jumps from 800 feet.

These shots show actual footage of the drop - as my fellow airborne brethren will testify - 500 feet is LOW. Also huge props to the C-130 drivers who faced all that ADA and held the jump altitude under a lot of ground fire.

I seem to have posted right after you.

Then again, and only because I am in a strange mood today: "We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on?" ~ Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the assault on Grenada, 1983

Tell that to the 75th. Vessy et al used Granada for military a reform effort that eventually resulted in Goldwater Nichols and significant improvements in Joint operations. It may be some in the navy did not pick up on that.

Unlike the marines joy riding "rampantly" in the north, The Rangers dropped directly into heavy Cuban anti-aircraft and ground fire at Point Salines and were clearing heavily fortified, high-ground enemy positions while attempting to secure hundreds of American medical students. The pre-assault intel was terrible by modern standards, but those tough troops overcame it all.

Commandant General Krulak probably got a lifetime of advice from his father, USMC LtGen Krulak. Some old timers remembered the elder Krulak as definately a hard ass!

I made Corporal in 1979 and while more than a decade before we heard of a Strategic Corporal, I was hell on wheels. That was expected of a US Marine non-commissioned officer (NCO). Lead, follow or get out of my way! Corporal was a fun rank! I was a crew chief on a AN/TPQ-10 Radar Course Directing Central and had a Sergeant assigned to my crew. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/TPQ-10_Radar_Course_Directing_Central My radar put bombs on target, day and night.

Marines were effective in Grenada but so were other the services. Communications there were ineffective because of each service's radios having different waveforms. In laymens terms thats similar to Channel xx on a CB radio trying to communicate with another CB on a sideband of the same channel. Same frequency, different waveform, No Joy.

In the movie Heartbreak Ridge, Corporal Wiseguy (played by Stoney Jackson) used a credit card to place a call to Camp LeJuene to coordiante support. True story although it was a Lieutentant from my squadron, Marine Air Support Squadron-1.

@Red Leg left out Scott being someone you wouldn’t lip off to in person. It wouldn’t be habit forming. He’s pretty wiry for an old man.

From Boyd by Robert Coram (page 387):
[USMC Lt.Col. Ray] Smith's overall performance in Grenada was even more illustrative of how a maneuverist works. Elite Army rangers were pinned down at the airport, largely by Cuban construction workers, and could not move. But Smith's Marines, a much smaller group, ripped around Grenada as if they owned the island. They bypassed enemy strongholds, put strength against weakness, and moved like water flowing downhill. They created such confusion and uncertainty that hundreds of enemy soldiers surrendered to Smith because, as one of them said, "The Marines are everywhere."

In his book About Face, retired Army colonel David Hackworth quotes an Army general as saying, "We have two companies of Marines running all over the island and thousands of Army troops doing nothing. What the hell is going on?"

Perhaps I should have written "shamed Army tactics" instead of allowing some false inference that I was denigrating the U.S. Army as a whole, or the Rangers, or the SEALs, etc.

Thanks, that was even a fuller quote than Hackworth's version.

A good read on postwar economies is The Reckoning by David Halberstam. Making long story short, after WW2, the world's manufacturing was in ruins. We had it all to ourselves. In order to rebuild our enemies economies we paid for almost 100% of their defense needs and our best and brightest worked in those industries. Meanwhile, Japan, Germany and others who we defended after the war employed their best and brightest in consumer goods like autos, electronics and other manufactured goods. It's still the same today. (I worked with some engineers for a Big 3 that couldn't find their asses with both hands).

Having said that, these countries are back on their feet and still offloading their defense costs on the U.S. taxpayer and at the same time sticking it up OUR ass with TARIFFS on just about every manufactured goods TO PROTECT THEIR INDUSTRIES! Meanwhile, they have BETTER health care (among high income nations, we have the worst!) and that nice imported Mercedes, Volvo, BMW, Honda, Acura, ad nauseum we buy is subsidizing these countries defense, health care and other social "benefits".

Don't even start on NAFTA, the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American worker. Read the Heritage's Foundation paper on it's "benefits" before it passed. They were reduced illegal immigration, a reduction in drug smuggling and a crimp on American workers' salaries and unions. They got one right and here we are with a big deficit and no tax base to support it.

I'm done.
Because of our post-WW2 economic dominance--thanks, in part, to not sustaining gross damages on our soil--the competition that would have otherwise kept us more competitive did not exist. The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit and union leaders did not (seem to) need to think as competitively as they should have; status quo seemed adequate. Quality improvements by Deming and others were popular overseas, less so in the U.S. We had ample profitability for maybe 20 years, but by mid-1960s, certainly early 1970s, we were not very competitive in a number of major industries. Coincidentally, increased taxation for the Great Society and Vietnam and other defense burdens like NATO all conspired to reduce overall economic growth from what it could otherwise have been. The 1970s inflation from excessive domestic spending and OPEC policies also harmed most Americans.

Yes, IMHO, the foreign military burden and impact coupled with tough competition cannot be denied.

Jeff Cooper wrote a bit about "Brute" Krulak, and knew him back then. Hard ass is right!

Commandant Charles Krulak authorized the creation of a Col. John Boyd exhibit at the Quantico Marine Corps Research Center with a collection of Boyd's books and papers. Anyway, your description of the Strategic Corporal hearkened OODA Loop interference, thus Boyd's work with the Marines.
