What did I do wrong? Guy had brandish a pistol and was freaking out at a stop light because I was smoking a cigarette, I had my own weapon, but in the USA you have appear to a grand jury when you shoot someone ( 1st lesson they teach in CC class) the guy violated the dogs personal space and got bit, hella lot better for him vs having some 10mm holes and me spending money on a lawyer and a visit to the grand jury. For all of the complete bullshit BE spews, none of it crosses the line to break forum rules. Many can agree this site and specifically this thread, since that's the only place BE posts, would be better without the nonsense, but it's a free and open forum so I see no justification for being banned.

I'm guilty of engaging a few times, with the same result every time when I disprove the lies and I provide real facts. I believe having real discussions and considering other viewpoints is important (we should never assume our own beliefs and opinions are the only right view). However, when the other person in the discussion refuses to accept they too can be wrong, it's pointless to continue. So I hit the ignore button and am glad to have done it.

I encourage you all to do the same. Press ignore, the BS doesn't show up any more. If people stop seeing it and stop engaging, replies don't show up. Then BE either goes away, or posts for nobody to see.

To paraphrase an old quote, "sophisticated people discuss ideas, unsophisticated people discuss political parties". The thing I really liked over the majority of the last 4000 pages is that mature people bring up a lot of ideas that get weak coverage in our media. Some of those ideas are not supported by either political party, occasionally they are supported by "the wrong party" whichever one a person of good conscience thinks that is.

Lately however, it has become a depressing place where its just like reading the party platform points of the DSA. In their totality, the DSA's platform is tailor-made to destroy everything that made the West glorious. The best that has ever been is never enough for a group of people that want to destroy the structures that have created this incredible country and its underpinnings.

I'd like to see an end of the line-for-line talking points of a fringe political party. I have democrats as friends, I have republicans as friends, I have libertarians as friends, I have globalists as friends, I have nationalists as friends, I have jews/sikhs/hindus/protestants/catholics/athiests as friends. I just don't want to associate myself with a human that seeks to destroy the West. It's gross.

America: #1 best place on earth for upward mobility. #1 richest country to live if you're of African heritage. #1 best place for religious and assembly protections. #1 best place to own a firearm and protect your family. #1 wealthiest middle class on earth. Excluding London proper, every State in America is financially better-off than any place in the United Kingdom. while the USMC did Gods work in Grenada, its a bit of a stretch to believe they “shamed” the 1st Ranger Battalion, 2nd Ranger Battalion, 7th Special Forces, Delta Force, or the160th SOAR… all among the premier special operations forces in the US at that time and certainly among the best in the planet… all of whom fought there… much less the 82nd Airborne Division, which at the time was probably the finest conventional light infantry unit in the world..

The communications, logistics, and intelligence failures were DoD wide and effected all ground forces.. some worse than others depending on each units mission set, insertion method, and targets..

The navy SEAL units (including ST6) probably suffered the most from poor intelligence and communications challenges… but I wouldn’t say the Army or USMC shamed them in any way… they fought valiantly..

The problems experienced in Grenada are what led to the Goldwater Nichols Act in 1986 which overhauled the entire DoD command structure to fix the intel, logistics, and comms challenges Grenada exposed…

I never denigrate a marine. But the 75th Ranger Regt (1st and 2d Battalions) distinguished itself by successfully executing a low altitude combat jump (from 500 ft!!) onto island's airfield while under MG and 23mm ADA fire. The decision to drop both battalions was made in route. They jumped without reserve shoots because there was no time for them to open if needed. It is probably the most remarkable combat jump since WWII.

Good description of the battle. The jump shots in this video are training jumps from 800 feet.

These shots show actual footage of the drop - as my fellow airborne brethren will testify - 500 feet is LOW. Also huge props to the C-130 drivers who faced all that ADA and held the jump altitude under a lot of ground fire.

Tell that to the 75th. Vessy et al used Granada for military a reform effort that eventually resulted in Goldwater Nichols and significant improvements in Joint operations. It may be some in the navy did not pick up on that.

Unlike the marines joy riding "rampantly" in the north, The Rangers dropped directly into heavy Cuban anti-aircraft and ground fire at Point Salines and were clearing heavily fortified, high-ground enemy positions while attempting to secure hundreds of American medical students. The pre-assault intel was terrible by modern standards, but those tough troops overcame it all.
