If the leaker is a military service member, which is who would most likely have access to the data being leaked, they would absolutely be subject to the UCMJ.

You claim to be a PhD. Personally I doubt it. You’ve demonstrated a thousand times a lack of ability to research or conduct proper data analysis. You also claim to be a veteran, but have also made bloviated and ridiculous claims about your service, so that’s in question too.

If the enemy obtains the information as a result of your action, and your intent was for classified information to be released outside of its classified constraints, there are multiple charges that can be filed against you under the UCMJ, which if found guilty would have you’re clearance revoked and have you ejected from service at a minimum, but could have to put into federal incarceration at Ft Levenworth as a maximum, which is what was said in the post you quoted.

Multiple charges yes, but not treason. Hand secrets to an Iranian spy, then yes, go warm up the electric chair. Hand them to the press, then maybe Trump should go after the news agency for treason. But, as I said, that would be tough given the 1st Amendment. You could argue that every time the press reports some disagreement in Congress (e.g. failing to pass a military budget) that aids the enemy (which I'm sure it does) editors should go to jail. Personally, if I was in a position to know critical weapons were in short supply and nothing was being done to fix it (inept leadership or lack of funding), I probably would want the public to know so maybe it can get fixed. Give me a medal! Arcom comes to mind. The other option is sit on my hands and maybe let service personnel lose their lives because they don't have the necessary equipment. Not sure I could do that.

Anyway, we all know this isn't about real or imagined missile shortages or treason. This is all about Trump and his perception of himself as the greatest thing walking the earth (while wearing a halo and robes). Someone leaked something, true or not, that made him look flawed. And he just cannot take that laying down. Only Trump is entitled to make himself look like a fool.

It seem inevitable that the west will suffer the same fate. Peace can only be obtained and maintained from a position of power look at history. Athens fell to Sparta because they got soft and philosophical. Rome got handled over and over again by the visgoths, vandals, and finally Odoacer when their decadence and expansion lead to much debt and their population became soft(for their time atleast).
Honestly there would be no Christians left if the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church didn’t reunite again the Muslims a thousand years ago when they kept ransacking and invading Europe.

My issue with the leakers isn’t even the hard numbers of each specific platform or weapon system. It’s more the psychological and or negotiating boost this type of information gives the enemy.

China and others have people planted in pretty much every U.S. industry. That is also why we have intelligence people in just about every U.S. industry.
So they have access to more than they should.

I'm of the (admittedly not that informed) opinion that it's pretty unlikely, but perhaps not impossible.

If he is going to do so, I'm also of the opinion that it'll be sooner rather than later, and will likely coincide with China having a go at Taiwan. What with Russia now effectively being a Chinese lap dog, it seems an obvious choice for Xi.

Do it today, and the US will have a hell of a time trying to respond effectively in Europe, the Middle East, and the South China Sea simultaneously.

Plus Russia isn't getting any stronger, and currently Europe is pretty weak, even against a threat as pathetic as Russia has proven to be.

Add in NATO relations being in a pretty poor spot as another consideration I suppose. I don't personally think the alliance has weakened enough for it to be a factor, but I can see why a Russian military analyst would consider the possibility.

By contrast, wait to 2029 and I'd expect Europe will finally become at least marginally useful in defending their own back yard, Japan will have become marginally useful in defending theirs, Russia will be even more of a joke than it already is, and hopefully the US will have both wrapped up this middle east adventure and developed some sort of cohesive geopolitical strategy. The opportunity will have passed, or at least will be less appealing.

Let's hope Xi is banking on Taiwan caving politically in 2028 instead of the military option I guess.

I'd give all of this pretty long odds of actually happening to a level that triggers article 5, but that's still not super reassuring...
