I think Trump is simply trolling people with the $250 bill.
The Thayer amendment of 1866 requires that any President must be dead for 2 years before their portrait can be used
It would take an act of Congress to change that.
The only living President to be put on a currency note was Abraham Lincoln in 1861.

It would be nice to have something larger than a $100 bill occasionally. A $100 bill in 1950 had the buying power of over $1200 today.

Ease of carry to Africa would certainly help. I would use it even if Biden’s photo was on the face.

There used to be a $1000 bill that Grover Cleveland was on, it was discontinued a long time ago .
Now it is a collectors item.

The democrats would likely support elimination of these two requirements in their efforts to make the US an Atheistic country and put B Rocko Bama's picture on a future bill.

The 2013 security updates to the $100 bill took less than a year for the forex shops in Africa to start discounting the older denominations. Even outfitters around that time preferred the newer bills

I thought the whole reason notes larger than 100$ were discontinued was because it was to easy to conceal large amounts of currency? Canada also had a 1000 dollar bill for a time as well as a 10000 dollar bill.

I still find humor in the fact that Obama wanted to remove Jackson (founder of the Democratic Party) and replace him with Harriet Tubman (gun toting Republican) on the $20.

The Generacs have automatic load switching. Their biggest reasonably priced consumer model is 24k or 26k, that's enough for a 5000+ square foot home with all circuits piped in.

The thing I like about the Generac (and similar) is it forces you to get an excessively large propane tank that you *should* have anyway to do deal with acts of god that might ruin all your perishable foods. Total cost for the biggest Generac installed is roughly $14k. The first time a storm takes your power down for 5 days, you'll probably save $5k in groceries that would otherwise perish.

I agree, its not the right investment for someone that will move in 3-5 years, you'll get nothing for the Generac in the sale of your home. It's definitely something to install in your forever home for your pleasure, not the next buyer's.

Do some homework before buying generac. There are other alternatives that may be more reliable and less expensive. Generac has a very effective marketing team.

Care to enlighten us on alternative units and recommendations. Shopping for one in the very near future.

I'll add my two cents worth to the backup generator discussion.

After living 6 years in Lagos, Nigeria, where the power went out 3-5 times a day, we moved back to the good old US of A and built our retirement house. I didn't include a generator into the plan and that was a mistake. During the first 3-4 years we lived in the house, and going through several power outages, I decided to get a generator.

Where I live, we have natural gas service, so that makes it easy to fuel the generator. I went with a Generac. A couple of decision you have to make are air cooled vs water cooled and 3600 RPM vs 1800 RPM. That last one is rarely talked about.

Air cooled engines are essentially lawn mower type engines and are good for back up generators for short durations (less than 24 hours). If that will fit your needs, this is the cheapest option. These generators can run longer, but you need to shut them down every 12-24 hours and add oil.

Water cooled engines on Generacs are Chinese built, 1.6, 2.4 or 5.4 liter engines. My 25 kw is a 1.5 liter engine and runs at 3600 RPM. Even with the sound enclosure, it's noisy when it's running. Water cooled is more expensive than air cooled, but they can run for several days, if needed. You still need to shut them down to occaissionally check the oil. Running at high RPM uses about half a quart a day.

There are 1800 RPM models, even more expensive, but much quieter.

A rule of thumb, what ever the generator costs, double that for the installed cost with all the bells and whistle for the load shed and automatic start up, etc.

When looking around your house, the two best areas to install a generator are near your gas meter (assuming you have natural gas) or near your electric meter. If you need a propane tank or diesel tank, obviously you need to factor that into location choices.

I think the most important thing is having a reputable contractor install the generator. A Contractor who will service it, after the sale.

There was a $500, a $1000, a $5000, a $10000, and even a $100,000. The latter they only made 6 of and they never fell into private hands, they were used to transfer funds between the fed banks conveniently.

Large bills were discontinued because of their prevalence in organized crime and shadow markets. In 1930 using only a billfold, you could walk around with $50k in your pocket. Adjusted for inflation, that is like carrying a million dollars in your billfold today.

If I were Trump, I would be deeply insulted to have my face on a $250 bill. Every time we look at our worthless, fiat currency we'd be looking at his face. If I were Trump I'd want my face on gold coins.

The next day the code inspector came by with her meter and checked the noise level. the generator is placed with a building between it and the property line. the result was that the noise level was acceptable between 7AM to 10PM, but exceeded the allowable amount from 10PM to 7AM. This wasn't a problem because we'd get everything done that needed electricity during the day and early evening, then shut it down over night.

A smart Karen would be polite... since she has no power, maybe ask the more prepared neighbor if she could maybe charge her cell phone or borrow a little electricty for her own key needs... if she wasnt an asshole, most neighbors would be inclined to be helpful..

Sadly, most Karens arent very bright.. they just lust for power and to be in charge.. and would prefer to shit on themselves while in the process of attempting to shit on you rather than just be a decent human being and have rational conversations with their neighbors..

The neighbor that lives immediately to my right and the neighbors that live across the street I'd gladly let pull a little power off my generators in an emergency situation where the power has been down for a few days, etc...

The neighbor that lives 3 doors down (my own neighborhood Karen), I'd rather set on fire than help her with anything..
