And more uk shit.....

Had Trump gone to congress the Democrats would have found a way to stop it and even if it was eventually approved the element of surprise would have been lost. I still believe that the world is safer because of this attack. If Iran succeeded in obtaining a nuclear weapon they would most certainly have used it. Remember that the Ayatollah said they would eliminate Israel with "one bomb." Had that happened the issues we gave now would be like comparing a few grasshoppers in your yard to a swarm of locusts.
Well Trump needs to go to congress to get approval by 5/1 as his 60 days is up - it will be interesting to see how this goes forward.

A lot longer than that. I registered in 1965. IIRC Elvis was drafted in 1955. I don't think anyone is happy about being drafted but the vast majority on those conscripts did their duty to the best of their ability. Some went above and beyond. During Viet Nam, to my certain knowledge, soldiers were spit on and reviled by the very people they were trying to protect. The same people I see screaming at the ICE protests now.

I believe registration for the selective service was suspended in the early to mid 70’s, it was a big deal when it was brought back. I could be wrong, I was just 10 or so.

actually, no.. he does not....

precedent has already been set by Clinton in the Balkins and by Obama in Libya... both exceeded 60 days.. and both were argued (and 1000% accepted by democrats) that because there were not boots on the ground, that congressional approval was not needed..

if it sticks to naval and aviation warfare, congress would have to go to the courts for relief, which a) a republican held congress isnt going to to... and b) would get held up for years while making its way to the USSC..

There are actually additional arguments that can be made as well... that would likely hold up.. and there are strategies that could be implemented that would also likely hold up... but the already established precedent is the fastest and easiest path..

In a nutshell, Obama and Clinton used simple lawyers tactics and were able to state that "hostilities" as defined by the War Powers Act were not occuring because there were no US forces on the ground.. air and naval campaigns do not apply.. when WPA was passed it did a shit job in definiting what exactly constitutes the requirement.. and a loophole exists that can be exploited (as proven by both of them)..

I'll add a link for reference :) :

For what its worth, google "scholarly articles related to Obama avoiding War Powers Act over Libya" and the same for Clinton in the Balkins..

Its not like SEVERAL think tanks, govt watch dog agencies, etc.. havent already argued this over and over and over again.. other than the absolute most liberal like the ALCU.. all have concluded that WPA in its current form isnt much more than something for POTUS to wipe his ass with after he shits on congress lol..

Most dont like it (including people on both the left and the right)... but it doesnt change the fact that WPA is pretty easy to avoid in its current form...

Yes. Hating the military (or ICE) by the people that are being protected is nothing new. I had to register in 1972. I wasn't drafted but a friend of mine that was a few years older was. He told me about arriving back in the states and crowds at an airport calling him "baby killer" and spitting on him. That behavior then was disgusting then as it is now.
Yep. Back then we were all "drug crazed baby killers". Anyone in uniform was suspect. Again IIRC, congress had to pass a law forbidding discrimination against veterans in hiring. Things have changed for the better now and I would really hate to see those days come back but I seem to be seeing indications they might be. Maybe its always been that way. Kippling's "Tommy" comes to mind.

I hear AOC was the “Designated Survivor”
On CIA teams there are two guys called DM for Designated Marksmen. Not called snipers in the COA. AOC should be DM for Designated Moron.

Here we go again....he is one shit stirring arsehole.....

He needs to be taken out back and given several kicks in the balls!

I registered in May of 72, the draft lottery started in 73 I believe, and if I remember right without doing any research the draft went through 75 when we left Vietnam.

I'm just going from memory

GOP for the win.

We just need to outmaneuver the Dems with the gerrymandering.

Supreme Court hands GOP a redistricting win by striking down lower court block on Texas map | Fox News https://share.google/eQ79w6srYPico7vqU

thats good.. but unless the VA supreme court rules against VA redistricting (they should be the last word.. to my knowledge no federal issues have been raised against Virginia as of yet), I'd say there is a very strong chance that D's will own the house after the midterms and Hakeem Jeffries will become the next speaker..

R's better hope and pray they continue to own the senate.. the shit show Jeffries and the resident clown show D's like Omar, AOC, Talib, etc will create will pale by comparrison to what Pelosi's house looked like..

Jeffries in control of the house is something straight out of a horror movie.

I think the problem is Europe and Canada depend too much on the US to defend them. Not a single country in Europe can defend themselves without US help, and a lot of help. Not a single country in Europe could sustain 30 days of an invasion. Canada does not even have a military, a few years ago Russian fighters strayed over Nova Scotia and it was American jets that intercepted. Nato is a joke. US gets nothing out of NATO. Europe is so weak they could not help if there was a war.

Care to back up that claim with a link ? I’m Nova Scotian and don’t ever remember a time when Russian planes were over Nova Scotia, further we have an airforce base in province cfb greenwood. For Russian planes to of been over my province they’d of been hundreds of miles into Canadian airspace. There have been multiple instances where cf18s were scrambled to intercept Russians on the edge of our airspace off of Newfoundland.

Further your claim that Canada doesn’t have a military is completely bullshit although under funded and forced to rely on antiquated technology Canadian forces are respected by their peers including retired members of your military that frequent this site.

Canadians answered the only time article 5 has been invoked which was by your country and fought along side of Americans in Afghanistan.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
