Did you see what they boarded that tanker out of? Zodiaks are easily concealed along that coast. Not much of a navy when that's all you have left. Bet it would make a good target for one of the Warthogs though....

As a squad leader me and my team had during the night set up a couple of Ma Deuce high up in a mountain pass overlooking the valley below. It was about 05:30 in the morning. I did not like our position so I stayed up with the guys manning the 50 cals glassing the surroundings. My lieutenant was in the tent, sleeping or more likely sipping his red dyed moonshine concealed as "flammable liquid"..the guy was from like Trondheim so..yeah..

Then, I suddenly hear this loud whistling sound over us... A-10 had just done an attack run exactly on our position.. Insane awesome flying. I think he did something like 5-6 runs some from different angles. It was just jaw dropping to see. Impressive. On the 4th or 5th run we all just clapped our hands screaming something wild at the guy flying that awesome thing. I recall thinking, happy we are on the same side.
Hope the US keeps those A-10`s flying forever. I believe we were practicing against 10th mountain Div. at that time. Good days for sure.

from the looks of it the ship essentially let them board...

the Iranians approached with a couple of very small fiberglass boats from their "mosquito" navy.. and boarded.. there is nothing visible in the images of those small boats and the boarding that shows any weapon system capable of sinking an oil tanker, much less doing any significant damage to one..

then the ship opened a boarding portal and basically let the Iranians on board..

a cub scout troop could have boarded under those sort of conditions..

all of that said... Iran released the video and its already been put into major question because of the very obvious manipulation of the video (not just editing, but AI manipulation of the images, etc)..

they did certainly board and seize at least one ship (they claim 2)... the Philipines has confirmed that 15 Philipine nationals are in Iranian custody..

The question is HOW did they do it.. and WHY did the crew essentially give them their ship?

the point that you seem to be missing is ANY politically motivated commentary has no value..

I actually dont disagree with Hodges entirely.. I think Trump is giving the Russians more ground than they deserve...

But.. at the same time... I dont care all that much.. strategically the Russians at this point are a very limited economic, cyber, and military threat to the US.. the war in Ukraine has set them back at least 20 years (I'd guess longer).. and.. the US has contributed more money and equipment to Ukraine than any other country at this point... perhaps it is time for Norway and others to take up more of the slack... the US is now far more focused on Iran.. and if strategically that means the Russians get a few concessions for the US to advance its strategic intent.. then, thats what it means...

I'd say that a 'ship' is a little different than a 'boat'. In all navy's (US included) not all boats are considered naval vessels.
A common, informal saying in the Navy is, "You can put a boat on a ship, but you can't put a ship on a boat". Generally, if it is a large, ocean-going vessel, it is a ship; if it is a smaller vessel used for specialized tasks or inshore operations, it is a boat.

So, I think context is significantly important here. Let me know if you actually think that President Trump actually meant every floating thing in Iran that can carry a person has been sent to the bottom?

A zodiak was certainly not meant to be included in his quote. If so, maybe if someone in the Iranian government folds a piece of paper into a paper airplane, you'll say that Trump lied because they have airplanes!
