The Straits will not be under Iranian control when this is over.
Perhaps a final resolution/post war result could be placing the (I assume currently) Iranian islands Hormuz Island, Larak, Hengam and Qeshm under some sort of FN-mandate or have them be annexed by Oman in order to relieve Iran of any formal territorial controll of the straits?

China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, and the Philippines capitulated to Irans threats and to keep the peace pay a toll added into each ships cargo that passes through the Hormuz Strait.

Would it be allowed by international trade laws if the U.S. took 100% control of the St.Clair River that separates the U.S. and Canada ?

All, I would suggest ignoring @Big Easy. He has been here a while, but on this thread he is a typical troll, with the intellectual capacity and discipline of 14 year old. Heck, after looking at the few non politics posts he has made, that may be generous. When he gets no responses after jumping atop his classroom desk and trying to look clever, he goes away for a couple of days before trying again hoping someone responds. A typical troll. I would be surprised if @BRICKBURN isn't already monitoring his posts and engagement.
Bingo! and the ignore button is your friend. My list is up to about fifteen.

The Klan is a Democrat formed cult. One of many. You leftists own it.
Party ideologies shift over time. In the 1800a the Democrats were the more conservative of the two major parties.

DAKAR, April 7 (Reuters) - Cameroon said Russian authorities have confirmed the deaths of 16 Cameroonians fighting against Ukraine, the first time the Central African country has spoken about the involvement ‌of its nationals in the ongoing war.

"alienate the majority of the members of the forum."...Do you speak for the majority of members on this forum? There are what, hundreds, perhaps thousands of members here? I've tangled with maybe 20-25 of them over the past few weeks. Haven't you wondered why I didn't post in this thread before? Only trump starting an unconstitutional and unnecessary war in Iran could get me off the sidelines buddy.

I feel its important to counter the right-wing echo chamber sometimes. Especially when war is afoot. I've always found it interesting that gun forums and their many right-wing members act so offended? Insulted? Annoyed? That someone from the center or the left could possibly be pro-gun, and be part of a community like this as well.

In case you haven't been reviewing past posts, there are a least 6-7 other members that feel at least partially how I do. But no, I'm not necessarily looking for friends on this forum specifically, or in general. I belong to left-leaning gun forums and groups as well (they do exist), and find it quite easy to befriend folks on there.

I do find it curious...the need for you and others to admonish me for what I say, but not for the members who say rude/crude/slanderous comments about me? Or others? Comparing Kamala to a flying monkey? That was ok? Claiming @Pondoro is an anti-semite bc he criticized Israel? That was ok? Accusing me of being a terrorist sympathizer? That was ok? But I drop one Klan comment and BOOM! Snowflake protocol activated. Glad we know all where the line is now.
I take it that’s a “no” re hunting. Again, why are you here?

We are just going to ignore Senator Byrd, who was still in the senate in 2010.
I was merely commenting about whether or not the Democrats of the 1800s were the party of the left. They were not.

The Klan was formed by the left to scare and suppress the blacks.
Now the Democrats buy black votes. Go figure.
Blacks who vote Democrat are still slaves to the plantation owners, they just don't realize it.

I think they seem to shift month to month depending on the topic. Never in my life did I think we see a Kennedy endorse a republican and Cheney endorse a Democrat. But it is weird times.

I think that depends on your definition of conservatism vs liberalism… the definitions have changed dramatically since the 1800's... for the most part ALL Americans were notably more conservative in the 1800's than in the 1900's and 2000's.. the question was how conservative... what was "liberal" then would actually be somewhere between centrist and slightly right leaning now..

Abraham Lincoln was a Republican… and he is historically considered a conservative..

Rutherford B Hayes was also a republican and is historically considered a conservative…

In the 1800’s the definition of conservative was a bit different than today.. but the fundamental ideals were largely the same..

Comparative to today the whigs would have been closest to modern republicans… the democrats of the 1800’s would not be for the most part and would be the furthest from modern republicans of the 1800's parties in question...

And for what it’s worth, when the Whig party died, most whigs joined the Republican Party (including Lincoln), which brought the Republican party to a position of being more conservative than before..

I agree, but I've heard that ad nauseam whenever a left leaning person is confronted with the history of the Democratic party when they say "the parties switched in the 60's" so here is some food for thought.

Of all the lynching that took place in the post civil war American South - 1/3rd of those killed were white republicans who were killed for such transgressions as teaching black people to read or simply being labeled a "Ni&&er lover" for opening their places of business to blacks.

Jim Crow laws - These laws were enacted by Democrats because some white business owners refused to abide by cultural segregation. So if a white restaurant owner wanted to sell food to everyone he could do so while only risking the loss of his pro segregation segment of the community.......

Until such laws were passed as to require by law the owner of the restaurant must install a 6' solid partition/wall between colored and white dining areas.(Alabama)

If you bring this up, the leftist white saviors will immediately say the parties "switched"

Well if that's true, here is the Democrats leading figure on civil rights......LBJ Himself in his own words

Then he tries to walk back his "I'll have these Ni$$ers voting Democrat for 200 years!" comment....

Really good documentary on LBJ

If anyone ever tells you the "parties switched in the 60's" then show them this add from J.B. Stoner(Democrat) 1972 Senate campaign....... It's entertaining to say the least

The only thing that makes their head spin more is the fact that Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood to lower the birthrate of undesirable people...... including black people, poor & Veterans!

She even went so far as to brag about speaking at the KKK Women's league and how many other chapters of the organization had asked her for further speaking engagements......This is published in her auto biography.

LOl........Cry me a river

You leftists always play the " Victim" card.

The modern day Republican Party doesn’t resemble the republican party from the 1950s, how would they possibly resemble the party from the 1850s?

Even more projection…you’re the one crying over my Klan comment, I haven’t played victim at.

Quite the contrary, you’re all just mad that I’m standing up to your ridiculous and childish insults and attacks… you are completely ignoring all of the points in my posts, which tells me you’re not here to contribute anything of substance, only more nonsense and hate.

That's my point. It doesn't make sense to associate current party identification with those parties over 100 years ago.

Much more accurate to say that there have been good and bad people from both parties over the year.

Even LBJ who is referenced earlier in this thread using offensive language is a mixed bag. He did those things and also was instrumental in passing civil rights legislation. Yes many will say he did it just for politics but he did it nonetheless.

My point is that the world isn't nearly as black and white as we would like it to, or as is usually portrayed by both sides in this thread.

There you go, more leftist tactics of deflection, accusing someone else of your own actions.....LOL

Upon some self reflection, I find that I have neither the time nor the energy, or per se, the interest to deal with a world of nuance and shades of gray. Black and white is so much simpler, and it gets things done. No more namby-pamby paralysis by analysis.

As my old man used to say. “Do something, even if you do it wrong”

Does that make me a simpleton? Perhaps

What time does The Masters come on?
