There is a very real difference between disagreeing with your presidents actions and criticizing your country as a whole, I myself have criticized your president at great length and am still a staunch supporter of America. I’ve never seen a Canadian member at any point criticize America as a whole just it’s current leadership if you’d like to bash our leadership have at it hell I’ll pitch in and help you but don’t confuse criticism of leadership with criticism of the flag. Some of us north of the border are every bit as patriotic as our compatriots to the south.
Most of the gun owners and hunters in the US recognize that the Democrat party are a serious threat to our way of life. They will therefore support Trump and see an attack on him as an attack on the US and his supporters. They also see Canada's embracing of Socialism as a support to those we oppose.

As well as the embracement of communism.....

Mearsheimer..
Gee, do you think maybe the part of the graphic that says: "CTGN is funded in whole or in part by the Chinese..." is an important piece of information there?

If you like Romney & McCain, and think they are men of good character, you would certainly fit well into the establishment swamp.
Certainly shines a light into your political sphere.

As far as you being ineligible to be the President of the USA, .....that in itself is a gift from God.
It would seem that Trump does not shy away from using the presidency to enrich himself, but perhaps its a better version then the regular "establishment swamp" since it is Trump who is doing it?

Other than a few on the fringes I don’t believe anyone Canadian American or otherwise believes trump is the Republican Party

Did you ever listen to Clinton..saying that the Clinton-Obama-Biden administrations considered military action against Iran, but found it wise not to engage in a war with them...mainly because of trouble with the crude flow..??
I'll take "Worst Ever Appeals to Authority" for $2000, Alex.

You want me to trust the guy who left me hanging in Somalia, along with the guy who actually sent C-17s with pallets of cash to Iran, left Ukraine hanging along with the other guy who left Ukraine hanging?

Yeah. That's not going to happen.

Wonder if they will risk taking the USS Tripoli through the straits, it seems like the navy keep the regular carrier(s) far away from the straits?
Along with previously stated: They won't need to, they have the range... and the F-35, unlike the Cobra, is fast enough to escort the MV-22s. And the LCACs can avoid most, if not all of the mines and mean no beach is out of reach. The distances involved really aren't that great. Only question is really "why wasn't this a day-1 task?"

I think you are I are on the same wavelength about Sharia. As I said above if you are worried about that you need not to look to Iran, but to your own internal social policies, laws and immigration policies. The threat of Sharia to the west comes from internal agitators, not external state actors.

We also have to be careful how we respond to Sharia because in some places, like Ontario and Quebec the fear of Sharia has led to the suppression of Christianity and Judiasm as well.

It's a very delicate problem.
I wonder where those internal agitators are getting funding? I mean, it couldn't be traced back to a C-17 somewhere along the line, could it?

Don't bore me with ignorance, and liberal propaganda

.

Now you are deploying 2000+ Marines to the gulf...Iraq revisited..?

Most people understand that 2000 troops on an island 20 miles off the coast strangling the income stream from the IRGC is nothing like 200000 troops dealing with places like Nasiriyah and Fallijah during Iraq.

Perhaps a better metaphor is Operation Rype where America helped Norways resistance strangle Germanys control of the railroads supply and troop movements the last few months of WWII.

I spelled out FID a couple of posts earlier :)

Foreign Internal Defense

In lay terms - sending guys into a country to train host nationals how to fight against an insurgency

Unconventional Warfare is similar, but has layers of difference - sending guys into a country to train host nationals (and potentially others) to become an insurgency

As an example… late 2001… 5th Special Forces sent teams covertly into Afghanistan to arm, train, and help lead the Northern Alliance against the Taliban government. They were there before conventional troops arrived, operating alone, etc… the movie “12 Strong” is about one of those teams… this is UW…

By 2002 the US had displaced the Taliban and installed the Karzai government… Afghanistan needed a military and police force to secure the country against insurgents, remnants of the Taliban, and jihadists coming in from abroad… so Special Forces transitioned teams to FID… and started teaching Afghans essentially how to be an army..

Army Special Forces (Green Berets) are the primary force the US uses for these two missions, although other SOF units have some capability to do them as well. This is because FID and UW are core mission sets for SF where they are largely seen as ancillary for SEALs, MARSOC, etc.. and SF units are responsible for specific regions of the world where MARSOC is a global force… so for example, 10th Group is assigned to Europe as its area of operations.. so guys assigned to 10th Group will learn European languages (mostly Russian, German, etc) and will study European culture, religion, common courtesies and customs, etc and will get regularly stationed in Europe during their careers… 7th Group is Latin America.. so those guys learn Spanish and Portuguese and a few other languages spoken in the Caribbean, etc.. they study Latin American cultures, religion, customs, etc… 3rd gets Africa, 5th gets the Middle East, North Africa, and some of SW Asia… 1st gets Asia-Pacific… then 19th and 20th (National Guard Special Forces)are broken up and aligned with the different active duty groups)..

While some MARSOC or SEAL or USAF SOF might know foreign languages or have some cultural training, etc.. it’s not commonplace.. for SF it’s mandatory.. which puts FID and UW right in the SF wheelhouse…and something of an extra task for the others…
Yes it’s crazy how many languages Green Berets learn. One of my staff was in for 21 years and retired as a SGM from 7th Group. He also spent time in Europe and the ME during the GWOT. He speaks Russian, German, Portuguese, some type of Arabic or Farsi (I don’t remember) and Spanish. When we are out shopping, running errands or run across tourists, he can speak to them all. People love it. A Hispanic gal that works at the last gas station on our way into the mountains loves him. He tells her when we will be stopping by for fuel and she has a dozen homemade breakfast burritos ready for us every time! It’s great. What’s not so great, although he, my wife and our other staff think it’s hilarious, is when he and some of our other single guys on staff go out to the local country music night club to dance. When women he dances with (some are Hispanic) ask his name, he gives them my name!

Perhaps because the US military is not stupid. We value the lives of our service men and women as much as we value our own. We, the USA will cross the line of demarcation when we are ready. If until then you have to pay a few more Norwegian Krone for petrol, that's the price of freedom.

It's so easy to criticize when one isn't doing. Post WWII the USA has led to way for free trade worldwide at our expense. For 47 years, Iran has been at war with the USA. It appears we are finally acknowledging that and are going to eliminate the pest. Lead follow or get out of our way!

As for France, my people left France long ago for a better life and freedom in the new world. If the Frenchmen of today want to saddle up and do their duty for world freedom, I’ll be proud of them. Perhaps some other countries will join the fight against those 7th century thugs.
Way to tell him, Mark! Never ceases to amaze me how some of our European “friends” sit on their azzes and criticize the USA while enjoying their freedoms and free healthcare we’ve helped pay for with blood, sweat and tears for decades! Hey @Pondoro how about a “Thank You” once in a while?? Ungrateful bastard!

Hey, it does get down to low teens (F) in Winter time.
It's all relative--once in Southern Sudan it almost rained. The cloudburst evaporated before it hit the ground, lowering the temperature to only 100 degrees F.....and the local people put on blankets!

lol ! Ain’t that the truth, had a college friend who was from France that constantly had to get in my face and tell me how terrible the president was and how crappy the USA
Is , I finally got a belly full and told him “ he would be speaking with a German accent if it wasn’t for the USA “ , last time we talked he was spouting out the same rhetoric except he was incredibly upset about all the Syrian, Nigeria, Sudan immigrants in his neighborhood in Paris,
And who do they ask for help when a Taylor Swift gets bomb , or a terrorist steals a truck and goes on a rampage?
The you suck , but help me, save me . ( gets kinda annoying)

Where is the strategy..? Bomb Iran by the scorched earth prinsiple..and then what..? This is not Iraq...no sign of them giving up.

One billion dollars per day..

Is there any strategy after the bombing..? Leave Iran to itself to implode into a civil war aka Syria..?

You eloquently leave out the fact that the neighbouring gulf states are burning and one fifth of the global dayly oil consumption is stopped.

Do you wven know what scorched earth bombing is? It certainly is not happening in Iran.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
