She is the constitutional heavy weight on the court at this time along with Alito. Alito likely will step down during Trump’s term.I imagine Trump has had some serious discussions with whomever recommended he appoint Coney Barrett for SCOTUS. Watch her demeanor closely, usually all “smiles and apple pie” for camera and video. She however shows her true nature when she thinks she’s off camera… but isn’t. What a piece of work
Trump can be pissed, but Barrett is thinking about a decision that has dramatic consequences for the powers of a president in our constitutional framework for a century or two into the future.
If the decision was a president can impose tariffs in any amount however he or she wished, think about the next time a hard left or globalist world government type is president in the future. How would we react to a massive tariff on imported gunpowder, primers, lead, and copper intended to make bullets inside the US? What about massive tariffs on gas and diesel engines and parts to “save the world”?
Overall, I like Trump’s policy decision to use tariffs to raise revenue and to help rebalance our economy to restore our ability to manufacture what we need for both security and self-sufficiency, but I more greatly fear unchecked power of anyone in government because the pendulum swings back and forth. The Supreme Court is looking decades or more into the future in rendering decisions and Barrett appears more clear eyed and level headed than some of the more politically driven justices.
