Seven guys pile onto a demonstrator. Then incompacitating him with pepper spray and beating him with the can was insufficient. They had to shoot him ... eleven times ... from a range of two feet. Lucky they didn't wound one of their own in that senseless firestorm. And the other guy who reaches in the window and shoots the young mother three times while she's trying to drive off. For what? Barely bumping him with her car. She deserved to die for that? Really? And this isn't goonish behavior? It's not what I'd call professional law enforcement behavior anyplace I've ever lived ... which includes many US states. But hey, maybe that's how good Christians behave in Missouri? I haven't lived there yet.
What’s interesting is every previous president has deported lots of illegal aliens without any demonization from the MSM and democrat party? Obama holds the record with over 3 million deported during his 2 terms. Crickets from the MSM and democrats?
I tend not to make any judgments of LE if I’m not physically there during the incident and certainly not based on limited video. I do know this, authorized and legitimate use of force isn’t pretty and to many of the public who have a comprehensive complete lack of knowledge regarding this subject, i.e., most AH forum members ,it’s horrifying to them. I believe you’ve mentioned that you’ve been involved in LE previously in some capacity but I’m certain you have not worked in a concentrated urban environment with millions of people like I have which gives you little frame of reference.
The 2 individuals who are deceased deliberately and stupidly interfered with a federal law enforcement operation, one with a vehicle and one armed with a handgun. One of our deputies, Paul DeRouen had his leg torn off at the hip from a vehicle, was medically retired and had life long health issues before he died years later. I have always looked at a vehicle as a 1500-2000 lb weapon during my 25 years as an LEO and I always will.
No LE operation which subsequently involves a critical incident is performed flawlessly, there are always mistakes made and improvements that could be made regarding tactics. I’m certain that ICE did not set out to kill these 2 individuals. No officer wants to undergo the scrutiny, the inevitable lawsuits, possible criminal charges, the demonization by the media and public plus being targeted by political activists.
It seems these two deceased individuals had mental health issues exacerbated by democrat activists, politicians and the MSM. All of whom could absolutely care less about them, they are just political pawns. It’s unfortunate that ICE has been placed in a position with limited to zero help from local LE which has greatly increased the danger to both the ICE agents and public. During my time, we always assisted federal officers during their operations especially with crowd control because we were more tactically proficient and better suited, primarily because we had far more experience, familiarity and training in this area.
But that doesn’t mean ICE should stand down due to misguided political reasons and lack of support from local LE. The rule of law must be followed or we will have chaos. We should not and cannot simply choose to enforce some laws and ignore others, we are a country that follows the rule of law. For those that don’t like it, then change the law, it’s as simple as that.
