Put on your pantalones. You’re going for a helicopter ride!

The helicopter ride Maduro deserves. Minimal expenditure of U.S tax dollars

To those of you with the vast international and military backgrounds, which I grqeatly respect...

I voted for Trump twice, holding my nose as it were the 2nd and 3rd time. I have not been his biggest fan during his second term.

Taking out Maduro today... I am at peace with the idea that Venezuela and the world as a whole is better off without him in power. That said...

Is this really altogether different from Russia invading Ukraine, at least when considered from their perspective? The outcome was vastly different obviously.

Will it open up a Pandora's box for other nations, such as China with Taiwan?

What will world reaction be to the decision to do this?

Frankly I am not convinced this was all about narco-terrorism.

Am I missing something? Again, no Maduro = good, from a 30,000 foot view. I just wonder if there are going to be deferred costs, as it were, associated with this action.

I'm glad he's ousted but I hope Venezuela doesn't slip into a worse crap show situation or it could be bad for Trump and the mid-term elections.

If the opposition leader that won the election takes power, it could be good. However, if the rest of his cohorts and cabinet stays then it could be like Iraq when we took Saddam out. Leave a vacuum for other bad actors to exploit.

Trump also said the US would "run" the country until a proper government comes into power. That could be a quagmire, and I don't see how it could happen.

I agree, those power vacuums we create are no bueno as we know, and seem to keep repeating unfortunately

Too late. Trump class battleships to be built. I’m in favor of building up and modernizing our navy, but I would prefer aircraft carriers over battleships.

Yes. I’m currently watching a series called “WW2 in color” on Paramount. I started with the BRUTAL Pacific Theatre “Island Hopping” campaign. Even back then, battleships were a relic except for shore bombardment as warships never even saw each other. Aircraft carriers won every battle for both sides and that continues today. Trump should focus on an aircraft carrier if he’s bent on naming a ship after him.

Fox News had Jonathan Turley on this morning to discuss the legal aspects of the US operation in Venezuela.

Not surprising, news outlets in foreign countries, spinning the story to suit their anti-Trump, anti-U.S. mindset.

A fair question, but on the other hand, how many times does history have to ask, "Well, why didn't anyone do anything to help? Why did everyone just sit on their hands?"

Sometimes 'doing something' etc looks ugly, isn't popular, and rides very fine lines.

And then there is this tweet, if you want to see an example of expert hand-sitting.

Eh, not entirely true. But I get your sentiment and don’t disagree.

“”Stand aside. I’m coming through. This is “Ching” Lee”. Truly one of our greatest fighting Admirals of WW2 and, unarguably , in our great Naval history.

There are stark differences here between what has happened in Venezuela vs Ukraine and what is threatened in Taiwan…

Russia wants Ukraine to be absorbed into Russia. They want Ukraine to cease to exist.

China wants Taiwan to be absorbed into China and for Taiwan to cease to exist.

Numerous countries of the free world have refused to acknowledge Maduro as the rightful leader of Venezuela.. it’s not just the US.. and Maduro has been wanted in the US federal courts since 2020 on numerous very serious federal felony charges… and.. the US isn’t interested in Venezuela ceasing to exist or physically occupying Venezuela (at least for now)…

About the only thing Venezuela has in common with Ukraine and Taiwan is that a military force has been used to seize an objective…

But the objectives are vastly different… and we use the military all the time to seize objectives.. whether that’s disabling Iranian nuke capability, punching ISIS in the nuts in Syria, whacking Boko Harem assholes in Nigeria, etc..

VERY interesting article and Ching was truly an exceptional Admiral. Remember though, Germany and Japan’s largest battleships in the world during WW2 were sunk by our aircraft from our aircraft carriers. I love the concept of battleships, but I’m not sure in today’s world they’re the best bang for the buck?

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,
