How much of any recent positive trends are the result of Biden's 'policies' and not just market forces? What about food prices? Rents?

Biden is so inept and useless on border policy, foreign policy, crime, "homelessness", his support of the war dejour, throwing money at things like student loan forgiveness...
Yes, despite Brandon's unrelentless attempts at destroying our economy at every turn since day one, market forces are just now mitigating some of the damage. Record drilling of oil and thus natural gas recently despite Brandon throwing every roadblock imaginable towards that goal. Interest rates and inflation coming down in spite of Brandon's flooding of monopoly money into our economy through his "Inflation Reduction Act" (what a joke!). Food prices and rents are still high. We still have a virtual "open" Southern border and continued "reactionary" foreign policy. IMO, Brandon continues to be the greatest threat in the history of our Presidents to our economy and our security from foreign adversaries.

I agree, unfortunately the economy will move down the list of priorities.

By November. We will most likely have been hit by a rash of terrorist attacks or thwarted attempts.

International Shipping costs will spike. Either from lack of insurance, or companies refusing to risk their ships in certain areas.

Gosh I wouldn`t even know where to start....:LOL

Na,,, you haven`t paid for the westerns worlds defense since 1944, But I admit it does sounds good.

The government in my country doesn`t decide how long I should work. The time of hours of work is agreed between the employer and the employee. I for one work the average 45-50 hours per week where a nurse can have a 25 hour(parttime) contract per week. The general workcontract per week here is 37 hours. And sorry to say we do work more effecient than you guys. Your "enlightments" on Europe are a bit dim. Some european countries has a long tradition of working hard where others countries have the opposit tradition like Italy and Greece.
Lots of americans are living beyond their means. One paycheck away to go bust and live on the street(prairie in Montana or desert in Texas or a beach in Hawaii).
I don`t know who said it but it was wise words:" If one keep buying things one does not need, you`ll end selling the things you do need". That pretty much puts america into that frame. You have far bigger problems in your society than Russia, China or muslim terrorists can do to you.
Just posting what my European clients have told me and I got rid of some French clients with that view of us and Bush when he accidentally included me on an email to his friends in a French hunting club.

Not sure what country you are in but if you’re working harder, that’s great but all this 32 hour work week, paternal leave after the birth of a child and other policies have come from Europe to the USA. I was self-employed for 32 years and 50 hours a week didn’t touch my work hours.

And yes, our Navy has been defending shipping lanes throughout the world and our armed forces have been defending Europe for decades. Are there European military bases in the USA? No but there probably are USA bases in your country or another country close by.

If economy continues to improve then it will not hurt Biden. Border and immigration issue is due to GOP stonewalling immigration reform (per NYC mayor Adams and I expect it to be repeated often).

There is also the elephant in the room, Roe vs Wade. I personally know a number of women that will never vote for a Republican ever again and I expect it to be true for quite a number of women as well. Just as I would never vote for an anti-gun or an anti-hunting candidate regardless of party it seems a lot of women have their red line as well.

At the end of the day, Biden might win again by not being Trump as long as he stays healthy.

The economy IS improving overall despite Brandon's policies. Wall Street says so. Despite a continuing 10 million or so available jobs and only 5 million people even looking for a job, unemployment rates have recently ticked upwards. Really? How can that be? Government subsidies? I don't really know. I can never remember an economic downturn where most of the available jobs weren't wiped out? The massive housing collapse and resulting Great Recession in 2008 took out most of the available jobs. The continuing Covid recovery seems to be an anomaly. Two jobs for every available worker? What happened? Anyway, I agree that the overturning of Roe v. Wade has made many voters (especially women) choose the Democrats over the Republicans. However, the Roe v. Wade was a flawed decision with even a couple of the Justices that voted for it admitting as much. Either way, you're right, the damage with the overturn of it has been done. My question to you and everyone regarding "immigration reform" is WHAT that would/will look like? Every person that illegally crosses our Southern border gets a "green card"? What about everyone else that wants to come to the US LEGALLY from countries around the World? Stand in line behind the illegal immigrants from our Southern border? As far as I know there is a quota as to how many immigrants are allowed entry into OUR and EVERY other free country in the World. Maybe not anymore? I'm NOT a "Trumper". I liked MANY of his policies including a secure border and "Stay in Mexico" pending asylum hearings, attempting bringing back some American manufacturing jobs, reducing the income tax rate for working Americans, engaging with Xi and the Hermit Kingdom leader (both failed but he tried), his "Warp Speed" rollout of the initial Covid vaccine (even his arch enemy Dr. Fauci said it was revolutionary), etc. What has Brandon done ANYWHERE or ANYTHING for the American people since he became President? NOTHING, NADA! Again, IMHO, he's fought our prosperity and security EVERY DAY since he was elected. Name ONE thing he has done for the ever declining MIDDLE CLASS worker/families in this Country? I rest my opinion. If a voter doesn't like Trump, vote for ANY Republican over Brandon. We won't survive another four years of that incompetent Moron.

Whether the economy improves much or not is of little importance if we dont have a country, and right now with Brandon in charge, we are fast losing our country to the masses of illegals entering the US illegally.
Couple that with Joes war on progress in anything other than green bullshit, lots of people are pretty unhappy with him.
He is whining because the press isnt "telling the correct" version that he wants to see on how he is doing, but the people feel that very much is wrong with our country right now in so many ways.
He is the most anti gun and anti personal freedom SOB that has ever inhabited the WH, at least in most of our lifetimes.
I despise this moron more than any other president since I have been alive and that starts with Ike!

Any American who would vote for Joe Biden over Trump hates America as bad as Joe Biden does and make no mistake, he hates YOU and he hates America as founded and has spent most of his first term openly trying to destroy it, this is all by design, it aint no accident.

Biden may or may not be around come election time, but if he is, I sincerely hope that voters can put aside their TDS and vote for the guy who is the best equipped to get American back to being America again and not some third world shit hole like it is fast becoming.
Woke is killing us. Grow up, grow a pair and toss this asshole out of office!

Rant over for today! Strongly worded letter to follow....

No one is defending him, I just wouldn't be too confident the economy will be a major issue by November.
A testament to short memory and lack of understanding how things really work. I hope neither Biden nor Trump are on the ballot in November. But if they both are I'm going to vote for Trump and trust he does what needs to be done for the US and the Free World. I'd prefer DeSantis or Haley but definitely no more liberals and especially not Biden.

Way to large a percentage of new jobs are government jobs. And dammit no matter what anyone says or how they try to twist reality, those jobs produce absolutely nothing. Last report i saw. Labor participation rate was just around 60%. Unemployment figures do not tell that whole story.

Socialists do not and cannot understand economics. If they did, they would not be socialists.

Hey, a bit of good news. This week, the Washington Post admitted that Ukraine-USA blew up the Nord Stream pipeline. After 15 months of Joe Biden, his admin and his lackey, Anthony Blinken, telling us that Putin did it. That we were conspiracy nuts or Russian agents if we even questioned why. That Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersch was a liar for saying it was us. Well, guess what? Tony and Joe WERE lying. And The WaPo admitted it. No retraction, no apology....just an article, almost as if they had actually done some investigative journalism. Like they had just discovered what everybody in Dipstick, Idaho knew.....(everybody but the democrats.) So newsflash: Vlad Putin did NOT blow up his own pipeline. We did....and now we are supplying high cost energy to Europe. What's next? !0% for The Big Guy? ..........FWB

I couldnt find the news on WP, but if true, then the question is how Germany will react now, and how will it influence their future relations with USA and Nato?

The reaction is silence. Angela Merkel who made the agreement with Russia was a communist in discuise. She has done more damage on Germany than Hitler ever did. All the European Union followers(the establishment) wanted the pipeline. I would say US has done us a favor. I would much rather buy gas from the US than support Putin even though the US gas is more expensive.
Churchill blew up the french navy because the french couldn`t make up a decision fast enough. THe US blew up the pipeline because EU couldn`t do it(lack of courage).

I has been known for sometime that the US had some "interests" in that pipeline.
The "agents" who did blow up the pipeline took of in a rented boat from one of our harbours(denmark) dressed as fishermen. If that mission has been approved from the top. Where does that leave Denmark in relation to EU and Germany?..

The most recent article I saw in the Washington Post (November) put the likely blame on the Ukrainians. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/11/11/nordstream-bombing-ukraine-chervinsky/ Perhaps you read a newer one?

That said, whomever and however it was accomplished, very few people in the West with any understanding of the situation did anything but quietly applaud. I think @rigbymauser is spot on in his analogy to the British attack on the French Fleet at Mels-el-Kebir in July 1940. France had just fallen, and the French fleet, allied to a newly triumphant Germany, would have dominated the Mediterranean likely making the British position in Egypt untenable. The British gave the commander of the French fleet the option of placing the ships under British control or sailing them to the French West Indies. Darlan equivocated, and the British struck putting the French fleet out of action for the remainder of the war and killing over a thousand French sailors (and recent allies) in the process.

Nord Stream was a deal with the devil. I think even most Germans realized that it represented a "bargain" that along with cheap natural gas, limited Germany's ability to fully exercise its sovereignty - particularly with regard to Russian aspirations. I have no doubt that factored greatly in Putin's strategy for recreating a Soviet-like empire.

Cutting that umbilical cord did not result in near the economic dislocation predicted by many, and witness the recent deployment of a combat brigade to the Baltics, Germany is already exercising a more aggressive role in Europe than at any point since the Second World War. That probably doesn't make France entirely happy, but it is good news for the West's collective national interests,

The notion that the Biden administration could make such a decisive move has never seemed very likely to me. Joe Biden is no Winston Churchill, and the hyper cautiousness Jake Sullivan and his other advisors have shown with regard to every other aspect of the Ukraine conflict, would argue against such a decisive move with regard to Nord Stream.

Eventually, someone will tell the story, and historians will render their judgement. Regardless how it was accomplished, I suspect most of those historians will conclude it was an important waypoint in Europe's economic independence. Whether it was an important waypoint in Ukraine's waits to be seen.

Now now, before you sophisticated Europeans get too carried away with that whole worldly smugness thing, I need to clear the acid reflux from the back of my throat and erase everything in my mind that I know about European history from 28 July 1914. :E Shrug::E Shrug: ;) But who knows, we may achieve your standard yet. From a world management perspective, it isn't that high a bar.

Ha!

Fair one

Calling me a European?

Now that’s a bit below the belt

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
