The US military will not accept anyone with less than an 83 IQ. Many of our newest immigrants come from nations where the national average IQ is below 83. Some of the nations where the newest immigrants are coming from have average IQs that are clinically described as mildly retarded. I think the Military's minimum intellectual standards would be a good representation of the minimum IQ required to contribute valuably to our broader society whether a brick layer, electrician, or plumber as well. It's a good bellwether.

We have 5% unemployment, rampant welfare programs being overrun by US citizens, and we have our own health and wellness challenges amongst US citizens. We cannot take in any more people from the "common man" ranks, we need to first be loyal to our US Citizen "common men". Work has to pay to get the bums off their couches. Why is it so important to get our citizens off the dole? Because the dole costs about 6x to 10x more to the taxpayer than the 1x in benefit received by the recipient. Lowering the unemployment from 5% to 1% using US citizen labor will lower our tax obligations astronomically, PLUS we get the useful labors of the now employed citizens.

In order for someone to come to America, they need to be exceptional (e.g. 120 IQ or better), have a very important skill (e.g. specialty medicine, STEM, skilled trade). That's the only way our society gets a net-benefit from newly introduced labor that at some level is denying employment to an American citizen.

I can't believe that it is scandalous to say we need to take care of our own citizens first and that we shouldn't allow immigration of peoples that are below-median IQ.

Exactly what I've said most of my adult life.

Almost everyone I've known that was left of center believed everything they heard. They would barely scratch the surface of the information available to them, and instead went with the popular narrative. This is also why presenting factual information to them has little effect.

Conservatives on the other hand, tend to be more intense in their gathering of information. Every leftist I've ever known that eventually changed sides and became right of center openly stated if was because they did research of factual information from all sides, and eventually rejected the leftist viewpoint.

Ronald Reagan, Thomas Sowel, Milton Friedman, Dr. Ben Carson, Elon Musk all started out as leftist. Sowell was a hardcore Marxist by his own admission, yet each one claimed it was the personal examination of factual information that caused them to change their ideology.

I've heard the "Their retired teachers" excuse ad nauseum for years; and while the jaded educators are present, I can say from 10 years experience being neck deep in the hell of Austin Texas while at the same time traveling to Portland and Seattle.

I assure you there are PLENTY of wealthy boomers who take part in the same behavior - these are the elderly people trying to claim their self imposed moral superiority after careers making loads of money in law, real estate, engineering..... especially civil engineers, the god complex aligns quite well with the moral superiority of the left.

The other segment are the retired state and federal employees who lived life for today their entire lives and spent every dollar they could and now are being slapped with the reality that their pension will not 100% cover their retirement....... and it's the evil oppressors fault.

According to the census bureau 42-45% of the pre retirement crowd(55-64) have no personal retirement account and Credit Karma reports 27% of boomers have ZERO retirement savings.

Interesting point. I did the work, less than 1% of U.S. immigrants come from countries with an average IQ below 83.

If you are curious those countries apparently are:

• Equatorial Guinea
• The Gambia
• Sierra Leone
• Gabon
• Cameroon
• Mozambique
• Angola
• Ghana
• Nepal

I do think immigration policy needs to be both rational and beneficial for the receiving country.

I think the logical way to do it is a version of the Canadian point based system. You decide what you value in an immigrant at any particular time and turn it into a rational point system that can be adjusted as the world changes. If it turns out you need a lot of carpenters you give that more points, or whatever you conclude the economy needs over the next X years.

If you like the humanitarian side of the equation you set aside a certain number of humanitarian spots and assign points there as well, based on a combination of how persecuted they may be in their homeland along with any other factors you like.

I would caution against using IQ as a factor. It's a very controversial field with a lot of IQ being determined by diet, environment and education and can lead to some pretty unsustainable conclusions.

Where it gets more controversial is in areas like religion. Do you favour one religion over another? It begs the much larger question of whether or not government should ever favour one religion over another.

Given your line of work. And given the horrible things you hear about, doesnt this type of report make you somewhat concerned?

I am very concerned about immigration, culture and protecting women and children from sexual violence. But I think if we are going to have an intelligent conversation about it, it needs to be based on good materials, not political propaganda from a wonky source.

Same thing about the Gaza tribunal. I am very concerned about the future of Israel and how they can co-exist with their neighbours. But I would not think to base my opinions or argument based on a shitty source.

My experience is very different than that report. The vast majority of the cases I see the perp is a white male, born and raised in Canada or Britain, while many of the victims were native Canadians.

Every ethnic group you mentioned came here to work hard, assimilate, and felt a loyalty and a debt of gratitude to America for giving them a better life. In a word they assimilated. They didn’t want to fundamentally change what brought them here.

So do the ones now. I've never met a lazy Mexican. Every Mexican laborer I've ever hired has worked just as hard or harder than any white guy I've ever hired for day work. The roofers that redid my roof we mostly Mexican, the bosses were all white. They did a great job. Better than I could do. Their children learn english and assimilate into American society quite well. Now I suppose some could have been from central america, can't always tell the difference.

That's also part of the reason why we WANT them to go to local public schools. Those schools help their children learn english and assimilate into American society. You all complain about indoctrination, but yes, that's what we want. We want the schools to indoctrinate immigrants into our way of life. Thats how it works. Immigrants dont come here and then all of a sudden drop their lifelong cultural customs and automatically know what it is to be American.
