Just stop watching the NFL, cancel subscriptions, stop watching ESPN, stop buying their merchandise, stop worrying about their stats. Imagine if all "Conservative" boomer aged people did the same, seems like there's more of you guys still paying attention to this stuff than anyone I know. It's slop.

It's anecdotal, but I'm an older millennial, I'm pretty right wing, nobody I know cares that much at all about the NFL. Same with the dudes I know that are younger than me. Realistically it's almost looked at as lame if you're really into watching sports in the circles I run in. To be honest last week I though the game was that weekend, not this weekend, I couldn't tell you which teams are in it, let alone who plays on either team. I'm not even sure I know where it is (San Francisco?).

Make this the year you stop giving them your time. Instead of watching the game and the leadup all day and being upset that "the NFL doesn't like Conservatives like me", just do right wing stuff this Sunday instead....

Hear, hear! I haven't watched the NFL since they welcomed back Michael Vick with open arms and I never will again. An absolutely disgusting person embraced by an equally disgusting league.

Same lack of forethought behind Trump's aluminum tarrif. Did anyone bother to talk to those involved in the industry? Most of America's aluminum plants shut down and dismantled decades ago. No ore in North America and no more cheap electricity thanks to Regan's deregulation. So who would invest in building new aluminum reduction plants betting on the tariff surviving Supreme Court challenge or even to the end of Trump's term? The guy's MAGA plan clearly lacks continuity.

This doesn't make much economic sense to me. The location of the proposed is in Oklahoma. For a new aluminum plant to be economically viable it needs 1) access to raw materials and 2) access to cheap electricity. North America has no bauxite deposits. Any aluminum plant (they are not called smelters because they don't use smelting process) would have to import its raw materials from overseas and transport from coast. Hence why most of the remaining aluminum plants not near ocean coast have died. Transportation costs are prohibitive. Historically most of the viable plants were situated near sources of electric power which also increases in cost over distance transported. Several were located along the Columbia River to take advantage of cheap hydro power. But metro development on the west coast has outbid them for that power. Same with the plant built near TVA in Kentucky and the Kaiser plant in New Orleans that used power from natural gas generation stations. So this proposed plant in Oklahoma will be hauling its ore in from a long ways off, coast of Texas presumably. And where will the power come from? Wind farms possibly but from what I've read those are not big producers per maintenance costs. Are there even any wind farms near the proposed site?

And only 1,000 plant workers making that much aluminum? What kind of process are they using? Doesn't sound realistic to me. But I've been out of the industry for a long time. Still, the logistics obstacles of access to power and ore will not have changed. I think this is highly speculative, especially given the highly speculative life span of Trump administration and/or its tariffs. I wouldn't invest in it.

Edit: Does seem to be quite a bit of gas and coal power generation in that corner of Oklahoma. But also close to large cities. I still think it would be a risky venture.

Really?
If similar circumstances were to infect the hunting, fishing, and firearms sports, would you just just walk away after spending decades being passionate about those things that you enjoy?

I doubt it

If so, the the other side wins by default.

A $500 million DOE grant.

We can stop watching hunting and fishing shows while still enjoying the activity.

Sorry, haven’t watched an NFL game since Kapernick took a knee. I took it very personal having worked with 11 officers killed in the line of duty during my career. I don’t watch professional sports anymore except UFC and boxing. Still enjoy a family game of touch football though.

What bothered me is that the NFL didn’t do anything about it, they caved into the pressure. Instead of saying you work for me, and not on my time. They allowed it. You want to protest, do it on your own time, and dime. There were several coaches who put their foot down and said not while I’m your coach.

Lost too many friend while in the military to tolerate this nonsense.

Oklahoma is set to host a new, major aluminum smelter by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in Inola, which will rely on a new domestic source of alumina from Brimstone's planned Oklahoma refinery, using abundant U.S. feedrocks instead of imported bauxite, securing a U.S. supply chain and reducing dependence on overseas mining. This project aims to double U.S. production and create a regional aluminum hub, with Brimstone's facility extracting alumina from common rocks, not tropical bauxite.
The New System:
  • Alumina Source: Brimstone's planned refinery in Southwest Oklahoma will produce smelter-grade alumina from domestically abundant, carbon-free feedrocks, a significant shift from traditional bauxite reliance.
  • Smelter Location: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) will build the primary aluminum smelter at the Tulsa Port of Inola.
  • Bauxite Alternative: This approach bypasses overseas bauxite, making the U.S. more self-sufficient in aluminum production.
Key Players:
  • Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA): Building the $4 billion smelter, a huge investment to boost U.S. capacity.
  • Brimstone: Developing the innovative process and refinery to provide domestic alumina, a crucial step for the supply chain.
Significance:
  • Supply Chain Security: Creates a domestic end-to-end supply chain (mine-to-metal) for aluminum.
  • Economic Boost: Expected to create thousands of jobs and foster a broader aluminum industry in Oklahoma.
  • Clean Energy: Positions the U.S. for cleaner aluminum production, vital for sectors like wind turbines and solar panels.

It’s amazing that in addition to being an expert in policing and most other subjects, OH is also an expert in materials production and knows more than the company that’s actually building the plant.

Must be one hell of a doctorate.

The very reason why nobody will hire Kaepernick.
He committed career suicide.

I was slowly getting back into watching the NFL but with their “entertainment” choices for this year’s Super Bowl I think I will just go deer hunting and just enjoy the last weekend day of the season.
I was a big football fan especially when I had quite a few friends playing in the NFL after college, now I’m more of a turn the Atlanta Braves game on and take a nap fan.
Sports were so much better back in the mid 80’s to 90’s when I was active, no political crap to deal with.

Trolls are experts in all things. Just ask them.

It's a real shame that AH allows political debates. Otherwise, the forum would be excellent. However, the political forum is primarily frequented by right-wing extremists who are free to write and post whatever they want, no matter how crude and tasteless. It seems to be almost entirely a Republican forum.

It's striking that both the owner and the moderators only intervene when someone posts something anti-Trump. This suggests that they, too, are adhering to the Republican line. AH wants to promote right-wing ideology; otherwise, why would the political forum exist?

I sincerely wish the political forum would disappear completely, because then AH would be the best forum around.
Well the owner is Namibian and lives Namibia. The Moderator is Canadian and lives in the soon to be free country of Alberta or USA 51st state. I don't quite see how AH is adhering to the Republican line considering neither are USA citizen or Residents.

Among our more "conservative" Europeans friends.. when compared to US politics, they are generally on their best day a moderate by US standards.. the left leaning European members tend to be VERY far left leaning by American standards..

Sorry Dave,

I have to strongly disagree here, as my friends say I am clearly to the right of Gengis Khan :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Read the press secretary's pathetic response. "Don't you people in the media have important real news to report on? Why are you paying any attention to what's in the president's social media posts?" Maybe because what's in his social media posts = what's inside his head. Immature, stupid, racist, arrogant, total lack of moral fiber, etc. His misbehavior on social media explains a lot of his official actions.

Any smart Republican in Congress will distance him/herself from the White House ASAP. It's no wonder so many GOP in Congress are opting for retirement this term. Let me look deeper into my crystal ball. The Democrats will control Congress next year and MAGA hats will be filling the dumpsters. Hang onto yours. In ten years it will be a collectible. Ah ... I see MAGA hats and Trump wigs will still be popular attire among rodeo clowns one hundred years from now.

You can rest easy now. Your rant forced Trump to apologize.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
