Meanwhile back at the front, Ukrainian creativity continues to astound. Overnight they caught the Moniyah, a Tarantul class corvette, at sea and sank it. The attack was carried out by several high speed naval drones. These are small remotely controlled high speed very low draft surface boats carrying several hundred pounds of high explosives.

The footage of the attack from the guidance feed of the attack drones is incredible. If you watch to the end, you will see it will be difficult for the Russians to make their usual claim that the vessel was only slightly damaged and that all the drones were destroyed.

"Donald Trump was instrumental in facilitating the first new peace agreements in the Middle East (The Abraham Accords) in almost 30 years" she said.........this should have been done when the dems were conducting riots and burning Portland, Or and succeeding from the Union with "The Autonomous Zone" in Seattlle (both things easily fitting the definition of sedition, but never once condemned by leading dems".....who sought "a summer of love")......and BTW...if you blame ANY part of the pandemic on Trump then you are a media spoon-fed. He immediately initiated "Operation Warp Speed" to address the threat (dems sued to stop this, wanting their virus to spread?), he tried to force the WHO to investigate Wuhan by threatening their funding....once again, dems stopped this, refunded WHO ane allowed them to do nothing until Wuhan had deleted all files on the virus. Trump stopped the 3 direct flites weekly from Wuhan to San Francisco......dems called him racist for this, in an effort to reinstate the flights and get the virus moving again..................many of you hate Pres Trump. He's not my favorite candidate either.....but stop re-iterating Major News Media crap without first investigating, just a little. Don't let them keep doing your thinking for you. If you still hate him, that is your right.....but look at several sources first.......................my recommendation...........FWB

I was going to list this as a new thread under general chat, but it is really politics. So feel free to just reply on and on.

I am not American and I have no dog in your internal election fight, but I know it affects the wider world. I am not a Republican, not a Democrat, let’s say I am a Sensibilist. You have a highly inadequate president, doing the most idiotic things like killing fossil energy when there is war and letting in criminals when there is internal chaos. The challenger is not too straight thinking either, and in any event doing all in his power to lose the election.l anyway. It is a lose-lose situation, utterly hopeless!

I find myself swinging from anger to despair and I suppose I read the politics thread in the hope of finding one of our members, just one, with a plan to make it better. Indeed is there anything to be done - lobbying, pressure groups, whatever other than just sitting in one’s armchair?

Perhaps you are all used to this dissappointing system, but it is driving me CRAZY!

I, like Kevin, have no skin in the US election. I feel the same though.
Even in Canada it is about the person, even though one person is not the government. I vote in every election, town, provincial and federal. I always vote pro common sense and ANTI WOKE, socialist agendas. If you want to maintain your lot in life, vote! Well, I think the lobbying and pressure groups will be on the Democrats side. I truly expect Biden to bow out "due to health reasons" from the race at some point. Once that happens, I do not expect Trump to have any chance as he would not be running against Biden's record.

He would be running against a fresh face where for most people that person not being Trump would be a good reason to vote for Democrats up and down ballot.
POTUS and the House will be Democrats and the Senate will be a toss up, though it should have been a GOP majority.

At that point I hope that Trump will bow out of politics instead of keeping poisoning the well for the GOP. Though, I expect him to cry about being cheated out of this election as well so he can fund raise off of it for some time to come in order to pay his legal bills etc..

Speaking of legal fees, $50 million of donations from his base went to pay for Trump's legal fees in 2023.

I do not have an issue with inflation (within reason, not Argentina type) as long as investments and earnings exceed inflation rate. Long term real estate and stock investments have exceeded inflation by quite a margin.

I kind of enjoyed the 0-1% inflation and 2.5-3.5% mortgage interest rates over the last several years. I know it was an anomaly and we'll NEVER see it again, but I actually preferred it to the 40-50% or more inflation on silly things like food, replacing a vehicle and fuel and mortgage rates from 8% to maybe now 6.5%. It takes a lot of higher risk stock performance in a mostly artificial stock market (stock buybacks) to mitigate that super high inflation. Almost every disastrous massive economic downturn was preceded by a record high stock market with no basis for such "exuberance". Beware the coming "Ides of March".

It certainly is looking like a Democrat potus, not just thanks to Trump. Judging by several comments I have read here it seems that more than a few people would rather clutch their pearls and watch the world slide down the dumper than vote for someone who offends their delicate sensibilities.
Mitch McConnell and Mittens Romney losing with good grace are much more your cup of pekoe, eh?

Trump says stupid stuff. He may say that he does not want your vote, but surely you are educated enough to know that he needs your vote.

We can get into a pissing contest about the candidates, but as of now most of the country is supporting Trump. More than likely he will be the nominee. That’s just the facts. You don’t have to like the facts but they are what they are.

At the end of the day Trump will need your vote and everyone else’s vote. America needs your vote. You know that.
