Politics

I have no idea about whether or not Trump committed misdeeds. However I find it damning of the US system that a judge can preside over when the judge is a registered member of a political party in opposition to the defendant. Should not a judge in such a situation recuse himself? Does US law take note of things such as conflict of interest etc?

Avoidance of even the appearance of bias is fundamental to ensuring public confidence in how society works. Over the last few years it seems like the political leanings of various judicial figures is more of a trial determinnate than any objective evidence.

Why? Being a member of a political party should not cloud the judgement of a judge.
Also most judges in the USA have political affliations and gets voted in by the public.

I think you have outlined both the aspiration and problem very succinctly in two sentences.

The rich owned all the media in 1949….and in 1849. The problem today isnt how wealthy they are. The problem is their ideology.
So would it be fine if their ideology is something you like?

Media should be free of ideology and convey real news, period.
Only opinion pieces should be ideological.
Otherwise it wouldn't be called free press!

Nope. It wouldn’t be fine if their ideology matched my own biases. However, the reality is that the media in general is steeped in woke, leftist ideology and it influences their coverage of the news.

We flew in and out of Rundu. It is my understanding that was the primary Southwest Africa airstrip during the Angolan war. In typical African fashion, 21 people were working at the airport, including six who were sweeping the runway with brooms. The one flight per day had seven passengers on a Beech 1900.

Rundu took the smaller planes and some supplies were dropped of there. Adelino Serras Pires mentions the military base at Rundu in his excellent, but depressing book Winds of Havoc.

During the Bush war Safair, now a commercial low cost passenger carrier was primarily a freight company operating a fleet of Hercules C130 aircraft. They were contracted to the government, and mostly flew troops and supplies in to Grootfontein, which had a much longer runway, from where they were transported to the border by road. They also brought back the bodies of soldiers who were killed in action to SA. If I remember correctly they also had a few 707’s in combi configuration that went in to Grootfontein on a regular basis for the same purpose.

Sometimes those C130’s would go from Grootfontein into Angola to Jamba, a UNITA stronghold to drop supplies and troops there. Often my dad was on those flights and we would eagerly await the telephone call to here that the plane, referred to by it’s NATO alphabetic registration - JIV, JIY etc spiralled safely out of Jamba and made it back into safe airspace.

Dewald,

Thanks for the history lesson and the story from your father.

The individual who told me about Rundu airfield was a Forward Air Controller during the war. Perhaps I misunderstood and am misquoting him.

Just like Biden and the flying monkey's, the Clintons have now figured out how to profit from Ukraine, and launder the money.
The republican party has become about as useful as a screen door in a submarine.

Bloody awesome to know that out of the kindness of U.S. Taxpayers hearts not only are we supplying Ukraine with arms and munitions we are also paying the salaries of 67,000 first responders, fire, EMS, and LEO’s and further paying for small business to remain operational……. Simply awesome!!!

According to Ted Cruz, the DNC will end up removing Joe Biden from the ticket, and Michelle Obama will parachute in to become the Democrat front runner.

The RNC is a disaster. The Republican debate was a clown show, and an embarrassment on a national stage.

Chris Christy is an anti Trump mole, and just needs to shut his blubbering pie hole.

How right you are, I couldn’t stomach much of it, however since I live in Alabama the outcome of our primary winner is pretty well determined. I’m not going to watch anymore until the field is at least cut in half preferably by two thirds.
