I am interested in purchasing a Blaser S2 in 30-06, 308, or maybe 300 Win Mag. I would happily purchase just a barrel set but would consider a complete gun as well. Please let me know if anyone is aware of one somewhere and or is interested in selling theirs.

I have seen several whole guns sell in 30-06 recently, I was very interested in one of them, the other had 2 sets of barrels and was much more expensive. The one that I liked I had a discussion on price with the seller, he was asking $8,500 for a plain gun, I felt it was slightly overpriced but a week later it was sold!

$8500 is an insane price for an S-2. I would have loved to had that when I sold mine. I think I got $3500 for it.

Where have you been looking? I have seen a few in bigger calibers but nothing in the plains game calibers.

The gun I liked was on gun broker. The Blaser S2 with 2 sets of barrels was listed at $13K. I agree prices seem really high, especially for a gun that many people do not like ...lol

But those that do like them aren't selling. And those that want them will (unfortunately) have to pay the market price for an item that's no longer in production.

The Blaser S2 is a very high-quality working double with the capability of going from 5.56x52R all the way to 500NE with no need for fitting the additional barrels. There is something to be said for a rifle that can take suni and elephant on the same safari with nothing more than a barrel change.

The most popular chamberings I've seen are 30-06, 300WM, 375H&H, 500/416NE, 470NE and 500NE. I've also seen a couple of 6.5CM's but it's been a while.

Here in Germany, I have only seen 500/416 and 8x75R, 8x57R, 9,3x74R and 7x65R.

I wonder why it’s not liked. I really think mine is an exceptional gun. The safety is hard but absolutely safe. I would like ejectors instead of extractors but other than that, they shoot exceptionally well, recoil is controlled and the quality and finish is top notch.

Short version - A few US gun writers decided they didn’t like the non-traditional looks and operation…bad reviews followed and it wasn’t long before Blaser decided to chop it.

The Krieghoff Big Five has a very similar safety mechanism (called the Combi-Cocking Device) but has the additional advantage of being able to have selective ejection.

The designs and aesthetics of both of these is right up my alley and if I were of the mind to get one, it would most likely be one of these two. I’ll admit to being an unabashed Blaser fan, so this is probably no surprise to anyone. But I believe the value of these rifles combined with the inherent safety of their action is an unbeatable combination.

BeeMaa, we are very much alike, I have a number of Blaser R8's and a Krieghoff Big Five, I like the additional safety of the gun not being cocked until I push the safety / cocking button forward. As the S2 shares the same scope mounting bases as the R8, it offers a lot of options for scope mounts that I already own. I hope to eventually get my hands on a medium caliber S2. As previously commented it seems that owners are hanging on to them.

I liked my S2...mine was 470.

Agreed. Finding one has been a challenge for me, even more so as a southpaw.

Mine has worked wonderfully with .375 barrels for Buffalo and 30-06 barrels for plains game. It is a wonderful non traditional double that will put a composite four shot LxR/LxR group under two inches at 100 yards. If sighted on the right barrel will put that first shot with perfect accuracy to the maximum point blank range of the rifle and a second shot just a MOA or two off.

Buffalo with the S2 as a .375 in Mozambique.

Nyala with 30-06 barrels also in Mozambique

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
