on a lighter note...

Pickled pig feet. Good stuff.
Yep, I like pickled pig feet. Probably would like pickled chicken feet too for that matter. Though I’ll probably not go out of my looking for them.

When I’m out with my Vietnamese friends we would have roasted and salted duck tongue. They told me they had a simple rule: if it runs from you it’s food!

How come women aren’t classified as food then??

My grandkids got me this for my birthday. They find humor in what “old people“ eat. I think this scares them.

We live in Colombia part of the year. I partake regularly in what I fondly call, "spare parts". Yesterday's meal was a pot of beans cooked with pigs ears, big hunks of chicharron (fried in the air fryer so they are healthier), fresh morcilla (blood sausage) and chorizo that I am sure was made with the spare parts of the spare parts. Of course sides are rice, arepas and plantain (fried everyway you can imagine). Absolutely delicious but I went hiking for about 3 hours in the mountains afterwards, hoping to stop a heart attack within the next 48 hours.:LOL:
Colombia? Well then, you must have heard of boiled pero soup, and for special guests, they dip deep and scoop up one of the pups for you...hard to imagine? That just means one thing--you've never really been hungry...

Lol, it probably does. There are more than a few who are convinced I’m a barbarian when they find out I like frying up the heart of a deer. :E Horrified:

Sopa de Perro? The ingredients have nothing to do with the name. There is no dog in Sopa de Perro. It normally has chicken or fish, depending on the region. Allegedly it is named for the nickname of a Spanish cook.

A friend drove delivery trucks and before we would go out onto the Utah desert for a weekend he always had a few cases of different thing break open that he would then declare to his insurance and had to dispose of. Well, one year he brought out 4 or 5 cases of pickled pigs feed that we consumed over the weekend. I can just imaging what someone will think in thousands of years when they find that fire pit with all of those pig knuckles in it and wonder what we did with the rest of the animals.

THE ITALIAN FUNERAL

Pasquale died. In his will he had provided for an elaborate $40,000 funeral.
As the last guests departed the affair, his wife Angelina turned to her oldest
and dearest friend, "Ah, Pasquale would be pleased," she said.
"You're right," replied Maria, who then lowered her voice and leaned in close.

"So, go on, how much did this really cost?”
"All of it," said Angelina. "Forty thousand dollars.”
Angelina answered, "The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to the church.
The whiskey, wine and snacks were another $500. The rest went for the Memorial Stone.”

Maria computed quickly. "Mama Mia! For the love of God Angelina, $32,500 for a Memorial Stone? How big is it?"
