About 15 years ago, I read on an American website that a broken collarbone is a common injury experienced hunters fall from a tree. Unfortunately, sleepiness increases with age. I told this to women I knew in Siberia, and they were like, "Oh! Our garage boss recently broke his arm and shoulder - he fell asleep in "labaz" - hunted a bear and fell asleep."
Okay....Not funny.....but yeah it is.....
DISCLAIMER: SIMPLIFIED:
In the beginning......and currently......treestands don't/didn’t have safety bars. And full body safety harnesses back then hadn't been considered/invented and recommended for use.
But I digress....
Fast forward to the treestand aka "the lazy boy" with all the comfort of a home recliner chair and the safety features to help a hunter avoid falling out of their tree mounted deer stand.
As to responding to your comment:
Age has nothing to do with hunters' injuries sustained from falling out of their treestand because they got "warm and fuzzy" enough to fall asleep in their treestand. Back then we were all "youngster " ie 25(?) to early - mid 30's (32-33?).
Those that I personally know whom have fallen from, while climbing into/out of, sleeping, getting comfortable, getting organized, etc. none broke their collar bone.
However......they did:
Only 1- Ripped open his genitals on a tree mounted screw in step, trying to get into his hang - on treestand.
10 maybe: twisted, sprang, broke, or any combination thereof their:
Ankle,
Knee,
Leg,
Arm,
Wrist,
Concussion,
Other head, neck, bodily injuries,
Note:
my knowledge of other's mishaps; to a degree of sustained injury/injuries is based on the height of their respective treestand and over a +/-(??) decade(s), of hunting, working, staying in communications with them
