M-1 Garand! Sweet! No better weapon.... Aahh...."small arms" weapon to have an arm in the sling with. FYI...M60 is a body sling. The M14 with the detachable mag is cooler but it can't compare to the "ting" of the M-1 Garand 8 round clip/mag being ejected.

DAH....obviously not familiar with "unique", "specialized", oriental weapons. Throwing "stars" are much more sophisticated with more extended and sharper "contact" points designed to produce a much wounding/maiming/deadly effect.

Best this "thing" could do based on weight and size, think of a track & field disc at 5 feet. Not much chance of being maiming or fatal, unless by accident to the temple or possibly the throat areas.

Please hopefully, or advise your wife, to keep us forum members of your prognosis just in case we need to send our condolences in case you don't recover from your injuries.

BTW, I sent you a PM/DM requesting your firearms and other outdoor/sporting equipment be willed to me for proper disposal amongst members of the AH forum community while you are of reasonable sound mind and body.

FYI: For Future Reference, should you fully recover, All orders from a loving wife are lawful orders. No matter how a husband's logic overrides or perceives such orders.
