on a lighter note...

Yeah, 1 in 5 require the perks? Because the other 4 are living in their parents’ basements and either are working part time or not working at all. See, no need for perks. LOL

For every story about Gen Z that gives you hope for society there’s one like this that does the opposite….
I would say it’s more like 1 in 5. I have examples living on either side and across the street from me. Very sad commentary backed by statistics for the future of our country. 18-64 yoa men now have the lowest work participation rate in our country since WW2. WTF has happened?

Maybe, but I doubt it as it’s too new. Especially when you factor in the trades and service jobs which can’t readily be replaced by AI. This trend started during/after Covid when 5 Million people quit working and weren’t even looking for a job even though there were 12 Million open positions. Now, 2-3 Million of those “retired” (lost jobs and never went back) but what’s the story now? Continuing Government subsidies or parents subsidies? I don’t know, but I do know it’s not sustainable over the long run for our country.

Algorithmic addiction to popular, yet unattainable lifestyles then?

Well, many of them apparently are living the dream. No rent, no job, ordering fast food DELIVERED like next door to a 20 something who dropped out of college and doesn’t work. Something like 40 percent of “luxury items” are purchased by 18-28yoa according to a guy who tracks such things. I guess I missed the fun 40 something years ago. I want a refund. LOL

Inability to manage personal finances and spending beyond one’s means is a symptom of clinically diagnosable depression. All the social media platforms demand a user’s attention and (just my opinion here..) bait and feed the depressed with some stranger who is “living the dream” that user then feels justified to purchase whatever they desire/desreve. Even if it is curbside delivery of Fast Food.

What these kids needed were/are fathers. Strong, loyal, firm, loving fathers. Not pooters. Calluses and blisters that develop into self sufficiency and an identity of an individuals self worth rather than insecure consumers of lethargy and convenience.

Here’s a fun fact for everyone. US credit card debt in the first quarter of 2025 was $1.182 TRILLION. Credit card default was $59 BILLION in the last quarter of 2024. Highest default rate since 2014. Living the dream! LOL

It is a symptom of irresponsibility plain and simple. Don’t make excuses. That’s what caused this mess in the first place.
