Howdy gents, dont wanna create an account on the marlin collector forum for just one post.... so was hoping one of y'all was an expert.

Was in my gun room with my dad and he told me this story about a lever gun in his collection "a engineer with the railroad in montana, last name of Anderson, was out building bridges and he took his wife along and gave her this rifle hunt deer with for camp meat". I think this was a neighbor of my dad's. Super cool and now I'm intrigued .

I did some research and from what I have found its a 1936-40 model 1936.

Markings
Under the lever: 3364 (no letter prefixes)
On tang: Marlon model 1936
On barrel: 30-30, special smokeless steel, the marlin firearm corporation new haven Connecticut patented
On top of reciever: marlin saftey

Can anyone help with info?

What exactly are you wanting to learn ?

Is my rearch about year correct? Does this all look original? Saw some stuff about a crescent butt stock.to be period correct. How many were made? How rare?

Trying to decide if I should take this out and use it or keep it as pristine as possible
