Out of curiosity, who practices shooting offhand?

“Offhand” means holding, aiming, and shooting the rifle without any support other than a sling while standing.

I have been doing a bit of DG hunting the past few days, and the 5 shots I fired with my Lott, all were offhand. It is to be taken into account that the distances were less than 50 yards. Anything further, I would probably opt for a rest of some sorts if available.

I do almost every trip to the range.
Usually, I start with a .22LR at the silhouette range shooting off hand for a warm up. Then, a few off the sticks. Finally, I move on to the 300 & 458 at the bigger range, same thing. This routine works well for me.

Important to practice offhand, IMHO. I practuce a few offhand shots every time I practice.

That's the only way that we shot when we were after rabbits with the 22's. Even when I would drag out my old 06 for those rabbit hunts all the shots were offhand. There are still times that I'll take that offhand shot at a animal depending on the range.

we need to see those rifle slings please!

From trip to maine a few weeks ago
But they make top notch leather slings and what you see there is the allweather sling. Feels like a broken in leather but good for all types environments.

Shoot mini silhouette offhand every week with the .22, every couple of weeks shoot my mid calibres offhand as well, practice kneeling and standing, I really dont shoot prone or sitting much anymore, takes me too long to stand back up and look like a drunken sailor while attempting too.

I dry fire my rifles in the house regularly. Always offhand sighting at something on the wall. Very rarely shoot them offhand at the range. I'm there to zero the guns only, not practice technique.

Of course my shotgun is always offhand, either in the field or at the range.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
