Thought it was time to actually join after many, many hours of reading posts/threads. Have thoroughly enjoyed reading & gathering info on hunting Africa. Been hunting most of my 27 years but all in TX, made a trip to the Houston Safari Convention this past January and after chatting with a ton of great folks, booked a hunt with Bos en Dal Safaris for May of 2027 (specifically for the Kudu rut). Delta fight is booked, planning on using camp/rented guns for this first trip because Bos en Dal has some nice camp rifles and to get a first international hunt done without the hassle of guns. Will be hunting for 7 full days and my list of animals seems to be ever changing but am having a open-mind for whatever we come across. Looking forward to posting a report after.

Taxidermy/tags/info are already lined out with Conroe Taxidermy as I live only 20 min from their shop. Got a tour/walk through with Barret Simpson of their operation and how everything do is done in house - very cool to see every single type of animal/pose that you could think of to get an idea of what you want with any potential trophies.

If anyone is heading to the Texas Trophy Hunters Association Convention in a few weeks shoot me a PM as I'll be there Sat & Sun.

You should have a great time with Gerrit and everyone at Bos en Dal. My wife and I hunted with them for our first African safari based on recommendations from Mark Biggerstaff. We had no complaints, great food, animals and experience. Looking forward to your report next year.

Welcome. Conroe Taxidermy is a great outfit. I’ll be headed down there to pick a few things up this Fall. You’ve got a great trip ahead of you in May.

Welcome aboard! You will have a great time with Bos en Dal. I have done 6 trips with the team and over 60 animals with them. PM me if you want to talk, I am just south of Houston in El Campo

:S Welcome:

Welcome aboard, and congratulations on getting it booked — a first African hunt is a special thing, and you've timed it well. The rut's a fine window for kudu: those old grey ghosts are usually next to impossible to pin down in the open, but with cows on their mind they let their guard slip and move in daylight — and that's when a real bull gives you your chance. Smart call on the camp rifles, too, one less thing to wrestle at the airport on a first trip. Go in with that open mind and enjoy every day of it — we'll all be looking forward to the report.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard. My wife and I went through the "First Time Safari" like you last year. One warning. Believe me the only thing about going the "First Time" is you want to go back. Good Luck.

Between Blak Rock and Pocahontas, I did not want to say that on the forum. That's a nice Cat!

I'll take the Vortex scope cover you have listed in the Pay it Forward thread.
