Greetings from down east Maine. After many years of avidly following the website , I decided to finally join the membership. I have been most impressed with the group’s contributors’ experiences and content of posts. Whether fact or opinion , I have found this to be a one of a kind site. I look forward to continuing the journey.

:S Welcome:

Welcome Mooselodge! Just returned from 11 blissful days at Ocean Point! Our neighbor invites us up every Summer. Her Summer home has been passed down 146 years in the family. Mt. Katahdin and surrounds my playground as a teenager! A wilderness not to be taken lightly and ALWAYS respected. Awe inspiring and majestic!

Welcome! Glad to have you here with the rest of us!

Good day! Welcome from our side too!

I’m down east by Bar Harbor
Mooselodge is the name given to my house by one of my Granddaughters some years ago and it has stuck.
Bye the way we did have a cow moose on the property earlier this spring. I swear to it .moose are occasionally seen on the Kebo golf course on the south eastern side of MDI
Moose are not permanent residents on the island probably due to too many humans but just across Western Bay moose can be found pottering about most of the year.
No creature to try to play with for sure.
We do have resident black bear now down in the center of Acadia NP not many but good to see they are back again
BTW Mt.Desert Island is all No Hunting
Poaching is the predominant sport up here right next to Belt Sander Racing
We have coyotes, wild cats ( the real ones) and just about every other mammal or bird you can imagine.
Deer culling has got to be done
The bleeding hearts refuse to understand game management in a protected setting

Kathadin and Moosehead Lake north of me are wild areas. Beautiful but can be challenging to traverse. You can only imagine what it was like when Champlain and is men went through the wilderness here . You can in two minutes understand why the explorers stayed on water.
The forest on my property is infinitely more dense than the fore seats I knew and hunted growing up in western Pa
