I read about, tragic and sad news. I also heard on the news that a country (I don't remember which) was grounding those new 737s. I hope we didn't have anyone from here on board.
I heard it may have been poor pilot training.
Southwest has canceled my wife’s flight from Phoenix to Denver tomorrow and nothing is available until Friday??? We have snow coming but I wonder if the 737 problem has something to do with it?
....... In the case of Flight JT 610, the preliminary investigation suggests that this system activated after faulty sensors indicated incorrect data about the plane’s ascent. In the wake of the crash, a memo from Boeing indicated that the system may kick in even if pilots are flying manually and it can push the nose of the plane downward such that pilots cannot steer it back up. Pilots were not briefed on the anti-stalling system and it was not included in flight manuals, reportedly because Boeing did not envision a scenario in which the automatic system would take over and because the company wanted to minimize the costs of retraining pilots on the new system. . ...................
Initially thinking this might be a typical mass hysteria reaction. But, ....
Global rescue just posted this backgrounder on the topic.
Boeing's Anti Stall System.
It engages even in Manual mode?
A system that the Pilot in Command can not override?!
. "...... Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. "
President Donald Trump tweeted on Tuesday.
Don't know the system but I wonder if the option of pulling the circuit breaker would defeat the anti-stall.
That's an old school solution.
I don't think the pilots have that much time to spare.
What I find interesting is it sounds like there is a problem getting the black box back. Maybe some countrys are not safe to fly into or out of.
Should make Airbus happy. Now banned from the entire EU.
