Either getting a leupold vx5hd 2-10 or a 3-15. Either will be used with QD rings. Will be used mostly for moose, caribou and bear. 2-10 doesnt have the firedot the 3-15 does. Plan to pop the scope off for close range work (50yd and in possibly) and use my irons.

Which one do you think would be the better choice? I'll comfortably shoot it out to 300yds with either scope

It's clear that you want the illuminated reticle 2-10x42.
I'd wait and get EXACTLY what you want from Leupold.
Or pay the piper at Optics Planet to get it now.

No sense in having something you are not 100% happy with.

That's kind of where I'm leaning, though the higher magnification would be nice for deer and caribou

17.9 oz vs. 21.9 oz.

Will you be sniping animals or stalking close to hunt/shoot them?

One carries the rifle/scope 99% of the time, shoots 1% of the time.

I am not sure there is a wrong answer between the two.

Another vote to wait for the Goldilocks one.

I do a bit of both. I usually run on my lowest setting until i see something worth hunting. If i have the time and the range i like to crank my scope to the highest power that i can and still keep the whole animal in the scope. I've hunting plenty of deer with 3x9 scopes and killed them at 50yds and less at 3 power. Also why i have QD rings is so i can pop it off in a hurry if i get in a situation that the scope is an hindrance

That discount really kicks ass, doesn't it!

I found a VX5HD 1-5x24 here for $600 - it was "used", but you would never know it - still had the free CDS dial available - talk about a great price!!!!

I am eyeing the 2-12 for the next one...

Yea, I'm really struggling between the 3-15 and 2-10

I use a 1-6x24 with Firedot on my 416 and swear by it! The red dot makes rapid snap shots a cinch and has served me extremely well over the years. In my experience 6x is plenty for 300 yards so you might consider one of these.

Between your options, i would choose the 2-10 but thats because ive found 3x to be too much magnification in certain close range situations. However like mentioned i would wait for the Firedot to be available.

If they were in stock! Haha i shouldve bought yours, but i was hoping i could get one for 200 less from the website with my discount

you don't need higher magnification than 2-10. and 2x is a better close range deal than 3x.

10x is way plenty out to beyond 300yds on deer or caribou. but as stated above get exactly what you want.

I would go for the 2-10. You may intend to use open sight when under 50 yards but unless the scope is already off the rifle most times you wont have time to take it off even with QD rings.

If a deer comes out 10 yards from you and you cant get a clear sight picture then no big deal. However if a bear appears at that range then it could be a different story. Hell if it comes into sight at 30mts and is coming for you I doubt it will be more than 10 yards from you by the time you have sights on. 2 power is way more user friendly in these situations then a 3 power.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!
