I am looking to buy a new Vault door for a new house build with a gun safe room. I'm open to buying a used one in good shape or find a deal on a new one. I can call all around and find the best deal worst case, but prefer to buy it from someone who also hunts or can use a quick easy sale. I'm in SLC, have done a fair amount of research, but any 2 cents of advice is also appreciated.

As vault doors are typically a permanent installation, unless some one bought one and then didn't build, you're probably better off looking to buy new.
These guys make an excellent safe. Had this link saved for my future need:

Be sure to overbuild. Just like safes, vaults built for current needs will usually be too small too soon...

Try Google. Good luck. Safe companies do sell a door for same. Would you like GPS coordinates for the best examples?

Browning made a great one a few years ago. Maybe they still do.

I bought one from Fort Knox. I believe that they are right there in Utah where you are. Shop carefully, some that look nice and are more reasonably priced are much lighter weight steel and use less positive lockup. Fort Knox was one of the best when I bought mine. We used an in-swing door as the gun vault doubles as our storm shelter.

Get the RO right. My builder messed mine up and it was a major job correcting it.

Antignos, you have several options to choose from. ProSteel in UT and Smith Security in Ohio. Shipping costs might weigh in on your decision. Here is the link to Smith Security

I bought an insulated, 6 dead bolt, steel fire/security door and made a secure room by fortifying a large closet in my gun room. The walls are rokwool insulated with expanded metal and multiple layers of sheet rock. Not a 'Vault' but it would take someone quite a while to break into it. I can also use it as a safe room, if ever needed.

This is the company I had build my vault door, I did a ton of research and talked to a lot of companies, they stood out to me and I love my door.

I did 3/16 stainless upgrade and then I added an additional layer around both locks and along the closing edge. I also had hard plates added in places on the inside.

Some are actually built right there in Utah

I second sturdy safe. I did a lot of research before I bought my traditional safe and decided to use them. I have been extremely happy. It is amazing how big of a gap some safe companies will tolerate between the closed door and the frame. I can barely get the tip of a normal screwdriver into the largest gap in my safe. Most safes I see in big box stores (Liberty, etc) you could easily fit a pry bar or wrecking bar into.

This is the direction I went. They are in Utah, which I believe is where the OP is. I purchased mine about seven years ago. It looks like the price is up about 40% over what I paid.

There was a vault door in the midwest on FB marketplace “Free if you haul it away”. It was gorgeous, pulled form the historic Rookery building in Chicago. (Where Capone had his offices)

It may still be around, you may sleuth where it went and see if the recipient wants to sell it If no longer free.

Definitely consider if you want an in-swing door. There is the risk of being trapped inside if you have an outswing door and something blocks the door outside to keep it from opening.

Actually never considered that. Thanks for the tip!

That’s why I mentioned that ours is an in-swing. Our vault does double duty as a storm shelter. If the house comes down in a storm you’re not getting out afterward with an out-swing door.

I did the same, and if you are custom ordering it, I can't think of a reason not to.

Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
