NAMIBIA: My Leopard Hunt Begins

Of course we had no permit or tag for leopard

Which of course the leopard knew, which is why you saw him like that! I had a leopard less than 10 feet from the door of the bakkie in Zim, same thing. :)

Great advice red leg, a zebra makes such a stunning mount and there is an amazing variety of things that can be done with one.
I was told it is the absolute best cat bait because the cats love the yellow fat.

Johnny that's a good Rec for sure.

Finding lots of spoor of big cats traveling to water holes while hunting. They seem to have no interest in the baits right now. Not good news. Keep on trying. While driving this morning my PH slammed on the brakes and said big kudu. We jumped out of the truck sticks in hand and my 300 wsm. My ph pointed to the kudu 225 yards away. My first shot hit him a bit low but you could tell he was sick. He stepped out and I shot him in the shoulder, he ran 20 yards and dropped. I have my first African trophy. 53/52 inches of free range kudu.

Nice nice bull Johnny !
Love his curl.......nice .
Cheers Dory .

We've had zebra out for a while cats not touchingly anything unless they've killed it themselves . They have zero interest in baits right now. So what I've decided is to hunt hard for the next 2 days for zebra, eland and oryx. We have confirmed an active bait that a mature male is hitting on the main Schoenfeld farm for which we are licencesd to hunt.

Trail cam shows he's not a monster but a good cat. So on Monday we will hunt there for the remainder of the hunt. Wish my luck fellas! Gonna go right down to the wire.

As I am sure you are discovering, any mature cat is a "great" cat! Best of luck.

Thank you sir. When you put it that way I'm touched.

Day 7. Wind howling like I was hunting in Kansas. Nothing moving about. Tuff morning. Going to sit by a waterhole shortly for the evening hunt. My PH says it's a good spot for eland and oryx. We will see. Wind still blowing hard. Man I've has a little of everything it seems. Could have kill female oryx many times but that's not what I want. Eland is an unbelievably hard trophy to acquire here. Smart and elusive. Wish me luck! Thanks everyone for your encouragement it means a lot to me.

Good luck johnny, yes Eland Bull has also bee a unbelievably hard trophy for me , three trips and still no shot at one (bow hunt) . Forrest

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
