It's a Marlin (Ruger) Trapper with a SilencerCo Omega 46M installed. Next, I will be installing a scope rail and a nice low power scope. But in the meantime, the factory iron sights are tall enough to be used over the suppressor.

I've been wanting to do a setup like this for a few years! When Marlin went out of business, I thought my plans were screwed. Then Ruger saved the day by buying up the company. After that I had to go through the PITA process of getting a suppressor in the USA.

I have that exact rifle and suppressor. Haven't shot it yet, but it's definitely a nice handy package.

The combination is certainly handy! I should have added something to the picture for perspective, the barrel + suppressor is just 23" (58.5cm) long. It could be made shorter by removing the last section of baffles but I think I prefer as much sound reduction as possible.

I’m curious, do the iron sights clear the suppressor? What caliber?

Yep, the factory iron sights clear the suppressor and the caliber is 45-70. This is a well thought out gun that was clearly designed to be suppressed.

What will you do with it?

Hope to use it for local deer and bear.

I've got a rail that replaces the rear sight but I'm struggling to decide on what optic to use. my plan is to use something light weight with low magnification. One scope I've been looking at is the Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x24 but the price is a bit high for me at the moment.

You are going to like that 95. The Skinner sights are both fast to use & accurate. Remove the aperture & bingo you have a very fast ghost ring sight. You’re going to like it.
congratulations!

@matt85 - What’s the max cartridge the suppressor is rated for?

458WM maybe? 458LOTT, 450RIGBY…dare I say 460 WBY?

that would be a serious texas hog stomper...

Im hoping to accomplish something similar, but with my 458 SOCOM AR15.. Ive got a can in jail right now.. once it gets released Im going to screw it onto the end of the 458 and see if I cant bust some bacon with it (hoping the YHM R45 does as much to reduce recoil as it does to reduce sound/blast.. and get the rifle under control so that I can fairly rapidly put multiple shots down range when sounders of hogs present themselves)..

Here is a quote strait from SilencerCo:

Caliber Compatibility: 9MM to 45 ACP / 5.56 NATO to 45–70 GOV & up to 460 Weatherby Magnum

If I ever get around to having a 458 Lott built for me, I will have the barrel threaded.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
