In terms of which cartridges you own, do you have everything covered from ground hog to bull elephant?

I try to avoid as much overlap as possible and tend to “skip” every other caliber class, with a few exceptions.

I currently own:

22LR
223/5.56
6.5x55
7.62x39
308
30.06
338 WM
9mm
38 spl / 357 Mag
375HH
416 Rigby
45-70
458 Win Mag
470 NE
12g

See any obvious gaps?

Yes. No Creedmoors, PRCs or even a Back Country? What’s the matter with you! LOL

No .17 or .20 and 6mm calibers. Pistol, . .40 S&W and 44 mag.

Something I’ve considered, especially with sheep in mind.

257 Robert’s?
Good choice. I’d say a .25-06

Edit to add: a mentor and guide hero of mine (J.P.) used to “cork” seals with a .25-06. He told me, if it’s good for seals it’s good for sheep.

I do not normally beat the Weatherby drum, but the 257 Weatherby with a 100 gr TTSX may be the most useful and lethal "deer"/medium PG load I have ever used. I discovered it only a few years ago, and the R8 is a perfect chassis. It is pretty close to a laser beam with a muzzle velocity of 3570 (R8 uses a full length barrel). The TTSX does its thing at that sort of speed.

12Ga (5) (The single shot is the "truck gun". It has an accompanying lock box filled with various lengths of 12ga shells of varying shot and buckshot sizes. Also Foster style slugs. It also has a .410 adapter and the box has varying .410 shells. It also has a 22LR adapter and the box has a box of CCI Velocitor cartridges. I feel that this firearm and ammo selection allows me to handle any reasonable injured wildlife found along the highway. (Of course one must obtain permission from the local game warden/sheriff.)

You need a 7mm Rem Mag, or a 280 AI (preferably in a light weight mountain gun) , or a 7x64. Even a 7mm Mauser if you want to stay traditional.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
