They are back under new ownership.Didn’t Montana Rifle Company close down during the Chinese Virus outbreak ? Are they up & running again ? Master rifle maker John Boliger (of Mountain Riflery) is currently building a customer a beautiful .505 Gibbs on a Montana Model 1999 action.
I’d love to see the company back again in full swing.

Good heavens, @Mark A Ouellette ! How embarrassing of me. This is absolutely fantastic news ! I have a strong feeling that the new ones will be even superior in quality than those produced by the original company.@Hunter-Habib my friend, I am hurt that you did not read, or forgot about my thread of the Montana Rifle Company under ownership of Grace Engineer in Memphis Michigan
@Altitude sickness and I hosted Ian, Brian, and Kristen of the Montana Rifle Company for a “user test” of a pre-production example of the new MRC Tsavo Rifle in .375 H&H. It is a really nice rifle featuring;
We shot at 50 yards off the standing rest and at 15 to 20 yards for rapid fire. We took a lot of...
- 4 round magazine in .375 H&H
- 23” barrel
- Removable muzzle brake
- Cerakote finish
- Uses M70 Classic scope bases
- Very nice wood with a “vacuum” impregnated finish
- A bunch of other features that I didn’t take notes on… J
- Retail price when available, $3295

Are they building .505 Gibbs rifles again ?
Not so simple, try to buy one. I have called them several times, most of the time they don't answer the damm phone and when they do , I get transferred to someone to help me who never picks up and does not return my calls. I use their dealer locator and can't find anyone who stocks them or has ever sold one even though they are listed as a dealer, very disgusting..
Huh? Simple search finds their website. Company located in Memphis Michigan.
current rifles , looking for a that actually sells them.Need a little more clarification. Are you looking for the current rifles? Or used rifles from the original company?
Very easy to buy them. There are usually about fifty or more listed on gunbroker. Click, pay, choose a FFL to have it shipped to during checkout, and done in less than ten minutes. There are about as many listed on gunsinternational, but that platform requires calling the seller to purchase for most listings. Not so simple, try to buy one. You’re welcome.Hey thanks Tex
I have a buddy who is actively looking to get his hands on one of the new ones. He has had good luck with their communication, not sure why you haven't. My understanding is that they have very low stock currently as they are just getting up and running, and there won't be any on the shelf at any dealers. But they agreed to send one to his local shop for him to look over. Good luck! They look really nice. Not so simple, try to buy one. Mark,The new owners Grace Engineering is a successful family owned business of 50-years that manufactures precision piece parts for other businesses that manufacture assemblies. https://www.graceeng.com/
Locally, such businesses are know as "Third tier suppliers", normally to the automotive industry.
A subsidery is the G-5 Outdoors company, maker of quality archery broadheads. https://www.g5outdoors.com/g5-outdoors-about-us/

They make things correctly the first time. That statement explains the delay in the MRC TSAVO .375 H&H, https://montanarifleco.com/rifles/tsavo/
Ian of MRC informed me a couople months ago that they are fine tuning their CNC machinery to manfacturer the TSAVO rifle parts correctly.
MRC's plans are to next introduce a .458 Lott rifle, to be followed by a .416 Remington rifle.
MRC is a manufacturing company, not a custom or semi-custom rifle maker.
In my opinion of Grace's successful business model, the low quantity cartridges such as .404 Jeffery, .505 Gibbs, and so on will NOT be offered by MRC anytime soon, if ever. Any company needs to make a profit on what they make and sell. Low quantity builds like these require the same production equipment set up time as do the high volume models.
For custom builders, MRC is planning on MRC 2022 actions. I don't know if their new actions are large enough for the .404 and .505 cartridges.
Mark,
Have you ever handled a Dakota or Parkwest Arms rifle, if so, how would you rate the build quality (craftmanship) of the Savannah as compared to the other two rifles?
Thanks MarkI've never handled a Parkwest rifle I owned a Dakota 76 in .330 Dakota which I passed on to a more appreciative caretaker. The rifle was finely crafted but owning a .338 Win that I don’t shoot, I had no need for the Dakota, as nice as it was.
The Montana Rifle Company TSAVO in .375 H&H is a solid value at retail price of $3295.
The bottom line is there are many different rifles at different price points. The MRC TSAVO is a quality production rifle worth $3295.
- Is a MRC TSAVO as finely crafted as a Dakota or Parkwest that cost two to five or six times more? No.
- Is a MRC TSAVO the equal of Kimber of Oregon Caprivi? Probably and the TSAVO will be available soon but Kimber of Oregon is no longer in business.
- Is a MRC TSAVO at $3295 a 45% better rifle than an out of the box new Winchester Model Classic at $1800? I think so.
A basic (no options) SD-76 Savanna starts at $10,495. Is the Parkwest worth more than three times what the TSAVO is worth? The customer must be the judge.
